We were pretty sure that Dead Rising 2 video was real on Friday, now we're positive, with Capcom officially announcing the game coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Capcom says that Dead Rising 2 will take the franchise to a "new level of zombie-killing fun with tens of thousands of zombies" and a chance to kill them in fun ways in the gambling paradise of Fortune City.

Dead Rising 2 is set several years after the zombie invasion of Willamette, Colorado. Unfortunately, Capcom tells us, that zombie virus was not contained at the end of the first game and spread unchecked throughout the U.S. Dead Rising 2 depicts a country where zombie outbreaks continue to strike.

As we had heard long ago, Dead Rising 2 is being developed in partnership with Canadian developer Blue Castle Games as well as a number of members from the original Dead Rising team, including Keiji Inafune, who as the game's Producer, will play an active role in the project.

The announcement promises that further details concerning the story and gameplay of Dead Rising 2 will be made available shortly. But what we already know is pretty interesting: It's multiplatform. Hey Capcom UK, I guess Brian Ashcraft didn't mistranslate that interview after all!

The video that leaked last week:

Fuckin' FUCK YES!

Loved the original, even if it was gimped on a number of levels.

Fingers crossed Capcom manage to fix some of the issues of the original and make this the most excellent zombie slaying game ever!

I really didn't get into the original... I got frustrated by all the escort missions (which I hate in general), and I HATE checkpoint save systems, because they inevitably result in replaying the same shit over and over (which frustrates me even more), especially where there are unskippable cutscenes (can't remember if that was the case in DR or not though). Will prob give the second a look, but will definitely try demo and read some reviews first...

It took me ages to get into the first one. Dropping it for months and coming back to it a few times before it finally clicked for me. I did hate grinding Frank's levels up, making the opening few missions a chore, but once you hit a certain point you become a zombie slaying machine and the game comes into its own. I also hated the escort missions, acting more as filler...and saving was a dog, but I kind of understood that design choice in the end forcing you to really feel the pressure of a zombie hoard with low health, trying to run across an infested plaza to get to the toilet to save. I also had more technical gripes with camera and movement a lot of the time...but it all kind of paled in comparison when the whole in the end.

Yeh, I felt the same as you hector, but I got into it after a while, still havent gotten around to finishing overtime mode yet. In 72 hour mode, for about 75% of the time, I was running around with 3 magazines and a 1 handed chainsaw (from that clown), the 3 magazines made the chainsaw last something like, 200 times longer or some shit, so it was like 20000 hits before it was busted, fucking awesome.

Im more of an excavator man myself. Something spastically funny about walking around wearing kids clothes and a horses head mask while using an excavator to go through a ton of zombies.
