Oh yeah, I haven't seen as much on that one, I was thinking of their 500mm f6.3/500mm f8/800mm f8 lenses, which are apparently reasonable in the scheme of mirror lenses. Checking out their website, the 650-1300mm looks like it could be fun too - basically just a cheapo telescope.

Samyang has got a good line up now it appear... their 14mm.. 35mm.. 85mm are all terrific.. even that 500mm telephoto is sharp from looking at sample shots (though it is f/8 wide open.. but cheap)

I have a Samyang 800 mm. As long as you don't mind holding the lens still for long lengths of time, manual focus and some circles where the bokeh is normally, these can be loads of fun.
I posted a large number of photos taken with a sub $200 Samyang 800mm a while back. I still play with it occasionally

New toys!

Cheap Fancier shoulder rig (the RRS clamp I added is worth almost as much as the rest of the rig)
Posted Image

With the new camera (D800), lens (24-70/2.8) and Rode VideoMic Pro (although that was a freebie I won at a course recently)

and a new case (Vanguard Supreme 53D) to keep the gear in and carry it around from time to time (much nicer than 4x CraftTech cases from Bunnings)

There's also some more RRS brackets hidden away in there.

A device so simple that it took a mind as brilliant as mine to create it! So brilliant, in fact, that simply by harnessing the power of one live frog, it... it... uhh... <poke> <poke> ... World domination has encountered a momentary setback. Talk amongst yourselves.

Took a while to find this thread!

A new toy, gave up waiting for my new D800E (come on Nikon get your act into gear) so went and bought a lens for it to go with an f1.8 standard lens...

My current setup - Olympus E-P2 wIth custom grip, 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6, 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 MK1, 50mm f/2 Macro, and Panasonic 14mm f/2.5. Pretty happy with it so far, though I've really only begun to use it frequently this year (bought it back in 2010). Looking to get a flash soon, either the FL-36r or the newer FL-600r, to counter the poor lowlight performance.

Unfortunately it has been wet and windy in Adelaide for weeks now so I am also itching to get outside. Hate getting new gear, looking at it and not able to use it.

Haven't posted any gear for awhile so thought I'd share my new purchase I picked up last night, the D700, just a small "upgrade" from my D7000.
But I need those extra focal points and the non crop factor is a massive change on the wide end.

Ooohhh, Still waiting for my 800E, though, a massive upgrade from my D200!
Is that a 70-200mm? looks nothing like the one I've just bought, focal ring on yours is much closer to the camera...

Yeah that's the 70-200mm, its the VR I, I'm guessing you have the newer VR II version. It's a little bit longer, slower and has 3 focus lock buttons around it which the newer version doesnt have.

Edit. How long have you been waiting on that D800E?

seems the D800 has started to come off the production line to Australia in reasonable quantities - the shop I've ordered mine through has indicated that the queue for this is starting to shorten at a reasonable pace but they just haven't seen the E version apart from a few early on. Apparently I'm now pretty close to the top of the queue (I think I was around the 11th initially) but I'd have to say if I hadn't already locked myself into Nikon I would have transferred to Canon given the appaling speed these cameras are arriving in Australia.

Yeah I think its a world wide issue still, I think I read somewhere they aren't manufactured in the same quantities as the standard version.

Just grabbed these RadioPopper JRX wireless flash triggers over the weekend but missed out on trying them in the derby environment I bought them for, Only a little test so far but working amazing, can't wait to use them properly.

Love the wireless power control.

Sorry for just nabbing someone else's photo but I don't think there is much to see really.
