hey guys as im finally getting some money in, Im seeking your opinions again! deal or no deal? Is it worth getting an ES i7 870? its like 420 bucks with free shipping brand new and oem. and yes I WILL be overclocking xD

Why not go for an i7 930 or 950?

Yeah! 870s are kickass. You remember that Anandtech article? It performs really well. Where are you getting it from as a matter of interest?

Price, I'm guessing. X58 boards are costly compared to P55 boards.

True, but the 870 is around 50-60 bucks more than an i7 930, so it kind of evens out the price...

Just so you know it is illegal to buy/sell Engineering Sample cpu's and I know it doesn't happen but intel can prosecute you or something for it.

they say that, but they never stop ppl selling hundreds of them on ebay.
I have had an ES i7 980x, 960 and a qx6700 and they have never died and clock so well

lol oh i still am you werent wrong just picked up a p55 board cos it was cheap and now im gonna build a new rig and sell the 775 one off.

edit: might see if i can find a cheap i5 670 around somewhere. Or would I have to use a H55/57 board with the 670?

hahaha yea only 7 rep I think lol apparently the guy is having issues with one of the dvi ports so im a bit annoyed. but oh well shit happens. might end up selling some more stuff there.. maybe.

Yea I know but thats how it is Ebay I guess is the best place to acquire ES chips though.

after looking at how the gigabyte comp went there dosent seem to be much advantage to i5 670 vs i3 530 except maybe a higher chance that it will overclock well
