Why would a capacitive stylus stop working

Hi Guys, I've got a HTC capacitive stylus (http://www.htc.com/h...ory/stylus.html - the one at the bottom of the page) and it got lost in the bottom of a bag for a while. I've now found it again and I'm trying to use it, but my screen isn't responding to it. Any ideas why? What could break in it? Anything I can do to fix it?
In the light universe I have been darkness. Perhaps in the dark zone I can be light...

It's the tip which does all the work, the rest of the stylus is just for style and function. Is the tip damaged?

Not that I can see. Does the angle the tip is at make any difference? It seems to be attached firmly, there is no cracks in it again that I can see. edit: even if I put my finger right on the silver part down the bottom it doesn't work.

The "capacitive" material on the tip may have been rubbed off.

Ahhhhhh, yes, it looks like the silver doesn't quite over the very side and onto the tip. Can I fix this? Or is it easier to just buy a new stylus?

Just get a new one. I have no idea what they use to coat it with.

Mmm, I've got a Sketch stylus with a similar tip, but I really prefer the HTC one. It's incredibly accurate for really precise drawing. The red dot means you can see exactly where the line is going to go.

The silver rubbing off is a pain though.

I guess your new one needs more TLC. I got that one because I tend to destroy these things ...
