Hi all,

I have been looking at a new LED Monitor.
I came across this one & wondered if it truely was as good as all that.

Dell U2412M UltraSharp 24” Monitor. Priced @ $399, BUT down to $279 until Oct 31st.

IPS, make we want it, for the price.
8ms responce time, makes me wonder.... is it good enough.

I am mostly going to play games with it, BF3... hopefully. 8)
$250 would be my budget, but this 24" IPS may prompt me to spend a few extra $$.
All alternatives appreciated.

Thoughts please.

If it is just for games? maybe go the faster non IPS screens... (cant think of the name of them TF ? ) They are cheaper alot faster draw times and higher refresh rates. This is the same problem i had deciding. in the end i wanted good image quality (better color, view angle and resoloution) over higher speed. 8ms is not exactly slow though. from memory a few years ago when they first came out it was a bit of a issue....and i think from memory 12ms and above was notiable diffrence. prehaps others can share some more light on this.

Oh nice, I was looking at these because they are 16:10 1200p, and IPS. For $280? I may have to get one, and then a second one later down the track. I can't really justify two at once. But having two of these will probably make my 1200p TN panel look like crap!

Still pulling my hair out... 8( The deal is a good one for IPS.... but is 8ms going to make the games suffer? Yes, mainly games. I have also spotted this one: ASUS ML239H 23in IPS Widescreen LED Monitor PC CASE GEAR $218 Resolution - 1920x1080 1080P Response time 5ms. IPS & 5ms. May be my choice..... maybe. Patience I have.

i used to play games on a 12ms 19inch no problem, i doubt that youd really notice the difference between 5ms and 8ms, plenty of other people dont seem to care

Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24” IPS Monitor Review

According to this review, after you calibrate the colour temperatures on the U2412M it should be a great screen. If i did not already have a 30" Dell 3008 I would buy 3 of these right now.

I have a DellU2410, my first IPS and I wont be going back in a hurry. This model is 6ms and has been great for games, I cant see 2ms making that much difference. Colours, viewing angle both great. Mine is not led back lit either. This is my third dell monitor and I have always been happy. Personally, for the price I think you will be well chuffed.

Was going to post thesame question actually. I was looking at the U2412M, but I am now looking at the Ultrasharp U2410 at the moment and i'm almost ready to pull the trigger! I have a ASUS VW246H at the moment and want to move up to something of better quality and it will also leave the 2nd monitor as a second screen.

23” Dell UltraSharp U2312HM
E-value Code: U14U2312HMAU
Dell Ultrasharp U2312HM

You wont be disappointed smakme7757 especially if you do colour critical work.
Got the U2410 for $487 inc GST with 3 year warrenty wish I got two for that price.
Pays to wait for a deal sometimes.
