I'm after a quiet 775 CPU cooler. I am using the stock one and it is too loud. I noticed on PC Case Gear they don't seem to have any and maybe in the future I will upgrade to a 1155 CPU so should I get a 1155 cooler with an adapter? Most important thing is noise; I don't care about a few degrees. Suggestions?

what about the Corsair H series self contained water cooling setups? I'm using the H100 atm, and I love it - it'll fit the 775/1156/1155/1366 and AMD's 2/3 sockets (not sure regarding the new intel 2011 sockets) I just keep it on low (they have 3 speeds) so it's nice and quiet - I've never seen it go much above 60c running Prime (had it on an 1155 setup, and a 1366 setup, both overclocked) whilst on 'low' - just make sure that you have a case that'l fit the 240mm radiator, if you're thinking of the H100, but the rest of the line up only uses 120mm radiators, which will fit virtually any case. I really like this cooler.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have a big case; it's an Antec SOLO and my motherboard is an ASUS P5B-E Plus. I don't think I need anything fancy like a water cooling setup; on a hot day like this my CPU is sitting at 41 degrees and the motherboard/NB won't let me overclock significantly further.

I think given if your case is not on the large side you might be better off with the water kit suggested.

most of the decent heat-sinks for the 775 were/are on the large side.

plus with the kit suggested, there's almost no stuffing about and the price is about the same as a good HSF.

you don't need a big case for them, all models (except the H100) will fit in virtually any case with provisions for a rear 120mm exhaust fan. they're very simple to install, need no maintenance, take up minimal room, function very well, and are quiet. they also have a 5year warranty.
they're actually less fuss than air coolers.

Get a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme and add a fan running on 5v... I'm not just saying that because I have one on eBay at the moment starting @ $1.
