That's for a 2600K, but they are essentially the same with a few differences.

Just focus on Vcore and the Multiplier.

generally Low V at good clocks (4-4.5). you should be able to hit 4 on stock volts with out a worry.

Stock on my Z77 board (Gigabyte UD5) is set to auto if I remember right... I set mine up for 4GHz and was hitting about 80c load under a Corsair H100. I couldn't get a solid boot at 4GHz without high voltages turning into high temps. Annoying. I gave up and just left everything at stock. Overclocking is severely irritating.

change the PLL, check power saving feature etc. and re-seat the cool. that should fix it.

Hmm you may need to be a tad more elaborate. :) I don't generally get into overclocking much, and this new BIOS is something I'm not really used to. As for re-seating the CPU cooler, I'll get into that when I'm bored and have nothing going on.

So I got what appears (after stress tests with LinX, OCCT, Prime, etc) to be a stable OC at 4.5GHz today... ARMA III worked fine, but some other games have GPU crashes either straight after launching them, or not long after. I've been reading the CPU OC can bump up the PCIe frequency as well, potentially causing damage to the slot or burning out the card(s). I don't actually know how to check this theory, or if there's any programs that will show me the PCIe frequency so I can watch it while launching games, etc. Anyone able to assist?

if your changing the multi not the bclk then your not affecting the pci-e freq try it back at 4.4ghz with the rest of the settings the same as its probably just the cpu thats still unstable if it is the gpu though and the oc is making it unstable it may be the psu or case heat at fault

I've rolled back to stock for now until I can be bothered fiddling again. It was weird. For example, while overclocked, Splinter Cell Blacklist would crash on startup with Crossfire enabled. Disable Crossfire and the game runs as normal. Remove the OC, game runs fine on both single card, and Crossfire.

enabling crossfire might double the fps if the game is gpu limited and vsync is disabled which would close to double the stress on the cpu and psu

Ok so my olds took a trip to Adelaide so i thought its a great time to get a different cooler ,so after reading lots of reviews i decided a Corsair H100I was the go $144 from a pc shop was a bargain as the shipping to the other side of OZ was nearly $100 yep its like im living in another part of the world and not in Oz.My pressy arived last Sat and after following the install vids on my ladys lappy i was able to install my Awesome new cooler, but dam how the hell do these cables fit into the fans ,i searched video after video ,and still could not find the answes i needed.

Ithought oh well it says you can just hook up the fans to fan sockets on the mobo,so i did that ,Ok time to fire up my beast what the hell is that sound so loud stop it my lady screemed .Doh hmm something wrong so back to those little cables hmmmm i sat looking at them what if i give em a slight pull ,yep that did it the 4 pins were exposed .What a tool it took me 2 hrs to work it out lol oh well at least i didnt break anything and now my cooler is so quiet ,its almost silent compared to my Hyper 212.I have a question with the corsair link my mobo is a z77 extreme 4 i get a red colour on the cpu aux fan it is like the fan runs then it goes red then it stops ,any ideas to what this might be .
