I have the opportunity to get in for free on Sunday.

Problem is, it's going to be a 37/39 weekend and I'm not a fan of the heat.

They must have filmed that before Farmtruck put the farmtruck into the wall... twice.

Season 1 of this was some of the best, most original, frenetic, funny and refreshing TV ive seen in ages:

quite a departure from Stephen Mangan's ill-fated Dirk Gently which i understand stuck closer to the Douglas Adams source material.  this Dirk is really quite annoying, but he grows on you.

I tried to watch Dirk but he just didn't grow on me ;) I thought perhaps one needed to be stoned to like him  ...

Very glad I was not stoned for The Sinner. Just completed the 8 episodes. heavy stuff.

... might have to give Dirk another shot for  some light relief

Someone's even created a website dedicated to this low underpass in N Carolina which claims rental trucks on a regular basis:

well, even though he's the namesake, you really dont have to like the actor or character.  i barely tolerated him for most of it!  (would have much preferred a young Rik Mayall)

the real centre of the show is the interplay of all characters and the weaving together of weird happenstance.  it has a really satisfying arc in the long run in that all the wacky shit along the way is not mere gimmickry but deliberately serves the story.

May Rik be resting still. Loved him dearly in Black Adder.

re the underlined : yeah of course, but I don't watch anything that might contain a Tom Cruise, <<< granted that's a more serious dislike than my reaction to the character ( and actor ) of Dirk Gently ... I think I found it all a bit tooo try-hardish tbh. I will give it another look see I think.

I've found Brooklyn 99 more to my liking of comedic style. The black dude who plays the captain is an actor I took to many years ago in a much more serious role. And "Gina" is just soooo not right but luvly :)

re: the underlined.  i meant, notably more so than most shows named after a character.  e.g. Wilson and Cuddy etc are all very well drawn characters, but the show is still kinda all about getting all up inside House.

I understood. As for Cuddy, I didn't take to the character much at all. Wilson on the other hand that was a bloody marvellous and hard act to play ... and for me House was always about the interplay of them all. I felt the story line dipped and waned though

well, all shows are about the interplay of characters after all :) House got the lion's share of screen time though.  in any case, i am just trying to get at something i found unique and refreshing about DGHTA while avoiding specifics, which is hard to do!  but its all entwined around the novel plotting.  anyway...i guess all i am saying is, i was glad to find a lot more breathing room in the show than i was expecting from the main character's blathering early on.

rightio. like I said, I may end up giving Dirk another shot.

Just watched " Case ", an Icelandic production. Only the one series. Not enjoyable per say, but worth a look imo.

Yeah, not the only one on earth of course, Australia has at least two, no idea how many Russia might have yet people still live on Novoya Zemlya, then there is China, the French tests near Tahiti etc.

Humans should not have nukes, simple as that, it's a bit like handing a two year a stick of dynamite and a box of matches...

One of the best Star Wars related documentaries I've seen - how Star Wars was saved in the edit.

Looks at how the initial preview screening was poorly received and details the changes and people that helped save the movie.

I would have loved to meet Feynman. Quite apart from seeming to always be able to get down to the nubbins of an idea, he seemed to be a genuinely great guy in most respects.

I wasn't aware a fly-through existed for that. Whoah! Beautiful, but you really wouldn't want to live there.
