[Peterson]... i do find him tiresome, because the bulk of what he says is either stating the obvious or conjecture leading nowhere in a hurry, with light pepperings of both gold and cra-cra.

Personally, I started off finding what he had to say useful, but as he became more than a televised lecturer and started talking about things other than his scholarly pursuits, I thought (think) his logic was more and more off-base. Telling Dillahunty that you can't quit smoking with religious Faith (as in "in God") was the absolute acme of bullshit, and I think he knew it - he's been walking that statement back lately.

It's definitely a mark on the historical calendar ... even if either should renege down the track . How much this will improve the lot of the average Nth Korean is questionable, but it makes for interesting times ahead for the rest of us .

Totally sucked in and chewed up by Mad Men. S4 EP 8 completed. The endless smoking and drinking. Christ we civilised humans must stink profoundly

Aaaaand Done ! All seven seasons. On the whole I'm pretty impressed even if I did switch off last night cos I'd watched more sex in the last hour or so than I cared for ;) ... I felt it might be down to lazy writing.

" Ahh heck what do we do with this scene ? I know, more sex on the floor ! Every body likes that !"

Apart from that ^^ a really excellent production .

The Simpsons.  Well, not really.  It's just on the TV and I'm busy doing other stuff and yet to sit down to my proper viewing.

Why is this shit still going?  It should have been killed off over 10 years ago.  Interesting chart that someone's put on Wiki, it's fairly true to the story.

Many say the Jumping the Shark moment was when Skinner was pointlessly ousted as an imposter.  I have to say that there were some good eps after that but agree there was a general decline.  Actually, I'd say Maude Flanders dying was when it really took a downhill direction.  And I don't agree with the increase coinciding with the movie release, IMO the movie was unmemorable crap which could have just been made as a double or triple episode.

I've not regularly watched the show in a long time.  Probably since a year or two after it went widescreen (2009).  And the good eps were outweighed by the ordinary and bad for a good while before then.

yeah, stopped watching The Simpsons long before they stopped airing them on channel 10.  it started to feel like a less funny rerun of itself.  i actually remember mistaking 'newer' episodes for classics i had somehow missed and wondering if the show was always that lame without me realising it at the time (like, as much as i still love Seinfeld, most of Jerry's opening stand up clips).  its a shame when something outstays its welcome long enough to begin souring the memory of its greatness.

no pung intended

With plenty of classics it was a case of ending too soon or maybe an overrun by a year or two (e.g. Married with Children, Home Improvement).  Cheers probably got it just about right.  Happy Days gave birth to the Jumping the Shark saying and I do remember it getting pretty boring in the last 2-3 years.

But this show, just a festering mess.  I used to be critical of Futurama and said it compared unfavourably compared to The Simpsons but really, Groening killed off the wrong show.
