 Hello,

So recently I've been having issues with connecting USB devices to the port on the left side of the laptop, it feels like something is blocking it from being inserted in properly. But i had a look for myself and i saw nothing wrong with the pins etc. People have recommended using compressed air to remove dust within and others said to take it to Apple for repairs but that option isn't really worth it.

I was wondering if this a common issue for MacBooks that occurs overtime and what solutions can you guys provide, all answers will be greatly appreciated.

The outer shield part of the port might be out of shape - I've had plenty of near misses.  Generally just inserting a plug part way and wiggling it around will fix it.

I attempted numerous times to find out if moving it in a certain way would make it work but instead it lights up a few times then goes off.

Send us a photo of the port? The last time I heard of anyone having issues with not being able to insert a USB connection, it was because a bit of plastic from one of their other usb devices was still stuck inside the port.

So the first photo is the port on the right side, which works perfectly fine:

And the second is the port that doesn't work:

Doesn't look like anything's out of place. If the USB devices you've tried still fit in other ports then I'd take it back to Apple.

I took it to the Apple store for further examination and the pins at the top of the port, which aren't visible from the pictures were damaged. Replacement was $500 as the whole board needed replacement. So basically i'm going to keep this until the next generation of Air's are unveiled.
