NFI.  I've bought a new and almost new Benq in the last 18 months.   New 22" and a used 24", both 1080 types and the 24" also has HDMI.

What to like - LED backlight is another leap above CFL which in itself was a huge step forward over CRTs insofar as being easy on the eyes.  Nice sharp pixels, viewing angle good, colour representation better than previous LCDs I've used.  Another positive thing is that a single button can cycle through the input types (DVI, DSUB, HDMI).

What not to like - like most the buttons are on the side, don't always register and not exactly intuitive though you barely ever need to use them.

Number two huge annoyance though and it seems almost universal with LCD TVs and monitors these days.  Even though backlight startup is almost instant and the panel itself is very quick, you're made to endure the annoying startup logo screen which doesn't go away for about 3 seconds then you endure another several seconds of having an overlayed message telling you which video input is active.

Number one huge annoyance and another seemingly global thing - they're all 16:9 AR.  It's cheaper to just make the same panels for monitors and TVs and as such it seems 4:3 is probably long dead (medical displays?), 16:10 probably the same.

Haven't bought a new monitor for years.

Same.

My latest was a 22" freebie, the corners glow white until it warms up after about a day.

I also have an old 19" being used on my CCTV system which was laying beside someones wheelie bin along with a tower, naturally, I grabbed that as well.

Bought this one about a year ago.

https://www.asus.com...onitors/PB278Q/

Nice 1440p res, so it doesn't even seem like 16:9.

Would recommend.

Had a Samsung before that which had a very nice life - about 6 years until is started shitting itself.

I'm no expert on TVs as monitors, but my 55" LED is crystal clear, and only 1080p, so could only imagine how nice one with a higher res would be.

Just having a quick look on Sony's page,

1080p

http://www.sony.com....0c-w800c-series

A little more expensive but looks like the cheapest 4k

http://www.sony.com....s/x8000c-series

Anyway, just a suggestion.  Depends how much you want to spend really.
