Thought I would start this thread so people can throw links and discuss the upcoming new cards from both camps.

The GTX 1080 and 1070 on paper looks good in the price/performance...  but benchmarks will need to be viewed.  I'm thinking I might sell my card now while it has some value since the price point for the GTX 1070 will be $380~ US.

Not finding much on Polaris yet beside die shrink and power savings.

No hard figures, no. But, according to AdoredTV at least (who was pretty on the money predicting the 10?0 cards' abilities), it should be about on par for normal gaming, and with a significant lead (at least, initially) on dx12 stuff.

Popped these in a thread over in Building, Troubleshooting & Modding:

GTX 1080 vs Fury Ashes of the Singularity benchmarks

http://www.overclock...ty_benchmarks/1

Benchmarking Data for Nvidia's GTX 1080 have been submitted online to the Ashes of the Singularity benchmark leaderboard, with single GPU performance that can best even AMD's R9 Fury X GPU.

In the games built in benchmark, the R9 Fury X is able to achieve a score of 4300 points with an average framerate of 44.4 FPS, with the Nvidia GTX 1080 achieving a higher score of 4900 and an average framerate of 49.6.

In Ashes of the Singularity, the Nvidia GTX 1080 has framerates that are around 10-12% higher than AMD's R9 Fury X. These scores were provided by the same gamer on the same system, so this comparison should be fairly accurate.

AMD allegedly pushes VEGA GPU forward to October

http://videocardz.co...ward-to-october

According to 3DCenter, AMD decided to release VEGA sooner than previously planned. VEGA 10 GPU (’10’ is speculated codename) is currently expected to launch alongside Battlefield 1 somewhere in October. This is of course just preliminary date, which can still change in one way or another, but it basically means VEGA would launch one quarter sooner than official roadmaps originally suggested.

VEGA GPU has been a subject to numerous leaks in the past. It was suggested by AMD employee social media account that VEGA 10, which we also know as Greenland, could very well feature 4096 Stream Processors. This would probably mean much higher performance than current Fiji silicon, as VEGA 10 is said to be manufactured in more power efficient fabrication node (either TSMC 16nm or GlobalFoundaries 14nm). Additionally VEGA would benefit from new HBM2 memory technology, as revealed by the roadmap.

Meanwhile NVIDIA is probably not interested in replacing GP104 products sooner than next year, so AMD would have enough time to gain some share in enthusiast market.

AMD-Radeon-Polaris-Vega-Navi-GPU-Roadmap

As far as the founders edition card goes during the stream there was a peak at something new on the unreal engine paragon so it may be nothing more that a nvidia reference card with a software bundle available earlier than other cards for a $100us premium

New vid from Adored today:

Pretty much as he expected in the second clip above, really.

Dunno 'bout you guys, but I am getting really antsy to see something from AMD.

Lots of reviews coming in... It appears to be really good price, performance and overclocking... But the cooling and temps seem weak on the founders.  Once partners get some better cooling it might be even more stellar :)

Yea, Im with you on the AMD side, want to see what they can put out.

From Guru3d below but basically the specs have been released on the GTX 1070:

"The GeForce GTX 1070 has the same GP104 GPU housed on it's PCB as the 1080, however it'll be cut-down GPU with stripped away segments, it has 1920 shader processors. This means it is has 15 out of the 20 SMs active (15 streaming multi-processors x 128 shader cores). The card will start at 379 USD with the founders edition (reference card) costing 449 USD. Below an overview of the specifications.

GeForce GTX 1070

16 nm GP104 silicon "GP104-200-A1" GPU
1920 CUDA cores
15 out of 20 streaming multiprocessors enabled
120 TMUs
64 ROPs
256-bit GDDR5 memory, 8 GB standard memory amount
Maximum GPU Boost frequency ~1600 MHz
6.5 TFLOP/s single-precision floating point performance
150W TDP, single 8-pin PCIe power connector
3x DisplayPort 1.4, 1x HDMI 2.0b
2-way SLI with SLI HB bridge support
Another huge difference with the 1080 is not the reduced GPU, this model will have your 'normal' GDDR5 memory and not GDDR5X. Despite all that, we expect this card to be a true hit."

This card is what Im interested in beside what AMD might be able to offer....

1070 should be a good 1080p card the lower memory bandwidth shouldnt be much of a hit at that res

amd having a much smaller 14nm die it will be interesting to see how there efficiency turns out

i guess it will largely come down to the quality of the process and how much leakage it has

Some GTX 1070 reviews are out... Haven't had a chance to look them over really yet.  Curious on how the temps/clock hold up compared to the GTX 1080:

gtx 1080 review with all the cards overclocked

http://www.overclock...0_overclocking/

the margin between the 980ti@1455\1950 vs 1080@2050\2745 reduced but the 1080 still held a healthy lead
at 4k the 980ti overclocked is almost hitting 1080 stock performance but still slower at 1080p

pictures of 1080 cards talk about fugly i was disappointed that all the new asus mb have led it seems everything has to have led these days

gtx 1070 looks like it will be a good value card once the price of the non reference models settles in

founders edition at $780 isnt bad value though since its 980ti level performance at half the power use

GeForce_GTX_1080_Block_Diagram_FINAL_w_6

gtx1080 price will have to fall a lot over the next 6 months provided the au $ doesnt fall further i would expect it to drop to ~$700-800 to make room for the high end cards coming out around the end of the year

380x starts at $200us au=$330

390 starts at $300us au=$450

but yeah starting prices will probably be high especially if there is limited stock

rx480 4g will probably be $200 and maybe a 8g model at $250

Sold my card since I want to play with the new stuff coming out but not sure which way I will go depending on some benches and price performance.  Running 1080p I wont need the highend just a good priced card.  I did notice in Division that my card was hitting 3.6g on the ram which is not good on the 970....
