Hey guys, I was just wondering how to create the exe to link with the .ini to autorun when burned to a CD. We have to make one for TAFE and google hasn't really brought up anything good in the 3-ish hours i've been searching. Thanks~

That's interesting, modern antivirus software actually blocks stuff like that running from CD/DVD.

It's autorun.inf by the way

I meant .inf when I wrote .ini, but how do I get the exe to begin with?

The exe can be any exe file, but it has to sit in the root directory on the CD/DVD by the looks of it.

You can probably specify what path it sits in if it's not in the root directory.

Is it possible to edit the .inf to allow the launching of a .doc or .ppt file?

You can also run a batch file - but as stated there's override options.  I always leave it set to either ask or do nothing.

Opening other stuff - I think you can, try a variant of what's here - http://www.instructa...he-flash-drive/

What do you mean "Get the EXE"?

an exe is just a windows executable, aka. any program.

From there, type up your autorun file in notepad, and save it to the root of the CD.

It'll look like this:

2-autorun.jpg

If your executable is in a folder, you type that like a web link, not an explorer link

So:

Open=myprogram/program.exe

not.

Open=E:\myprogram\program.exe

Note: thats a random screengrab from googling autorun.inf, I have no idea if thats a real virus or program its referencing, lol.

EDIT: yes, you can run anything. The only reason it's not smart is incase the computer doesn't have a program associated.

For example, if I wanted to show a basic DOC file, I'd do it using a command prompt, and write.exe (wordpad), because if it's windows, it'll exist.

If you're testing this, your antivirus might have a hissy fit and just block it outright.

Later versions of Windows just disable the autorun as well I think.
