I've worked at the Pentagon mate, plenty of checks and balances - not so sure that applies in NK....

After Cuba - a long time ago now, the US generals sat down in a massive think tank at JFK's behest to write a set of rules to rein in maniacs like LeMay.

By the time I arrived there rule one was go read it. Not really a massive document, unusual in the mil, but in the end it defines question orders from above by people on a four to eight year tenure when you might be in a position of power for decades.

Makes sense, but if you look at the nutters often surrounding Kim lunatic I rather doubt they have such a doctrine.

Cheers

I hope it's all noise and blunder from Kim and Trump and nothing happens, but people like that can just do something unexpected. WW1 was a cluster**** caused by just one death.

Hmm,

Very true, one of my grandfather's was in that one, blown up at Passchendale and gassed on the Somme. Still lived into his 90s but at quite a young age when he realised I had military career intentions he handed me a history of WWI with the simple message to read it and bear in mind the intent is to keep the peace, not start wars.

Never started a war in my life, can't think of why I would - been in far too many of the damned things though....

Just this once though I do think going proactive makes best sense, before you find yourself dealing with a ridiculous but lethal attack.

I honestly do not think Kim understands just how widespread US forces are, let alone the allies. He attacks he and half his country will be dead.

I do actually think it is all idiotic bluster but that too can lead to war.

Cheers
