DC5

You lost control of a FWD Civic?

I knew an NRMA emergency technician back in the day... in the 5 years either side of 1990 Sigma and Magna had the worst reputation of any cars.

The driveline is the weak link, engines or gearboxes would spontaneously die, regardless of how the car had been treated.

But if one's made it to the modern day in reasonable order then chances are it'll continue service just as well as any other of the era.

Come to think of it. Pajero's often have electronics problems with drivelines etc.

Nope DC5, It's an Integra.

And after looking at the car today, what I expected happened, happened.

Makes me feel better!

There's practically nothing even the best driver could have done in my circumstance.

It was a right hand turn, and the sidewall of my inside front tire (the one with almost no stress on it) has gone pop.

They were at correct pressure too; I'm anal about checking.

Blown tire + damp road + canopy foliage = diagonal slide.

No wonder the counter steering did sweet F.A to pull it straight. Open front diff.

15km below the limit on an easy corner doesn't save against a blowout on a slippery road.

Wherever you go in life, watch out for Scythe, the tackling IT support guy.

Damn !!

Find a nail or anything in the tire to account for the puncture ?

Had something like that happen years ago but on a corner exit with enough road to spin it and stop. after a couple of minutes to let the shakes go did the messy tire change thing and went to the nearest service station to get the puncture fixed - damned big screw right through the tire, no idea where that came from. Just as well it was out in the middle of nowhere S.A. and late in the evening - no oncoming traffic to worry about, because I needed all of the road :)

In the end so long as you are ok that's all that matters, cars are replaceable, lives are not...

Cheers
