I didn't say they all would either. It's just something I've noted Aussie politics does, we choose weekends and holidays for pretty much all of our election/ voting stuffs ;)

And even if not all go away, those that stay home are still somewhat distracted from the regular routine by school holidays  ...

With compulsory voting if elections were during the week there'd need to be a public holiday.

This thing is postal and you can send the thing off over a period of weeks any time day or night.  If that's not sufficient for people to pull the finger out and do it then maybe we need a Gastapo to go around enforcing stuff like this and people taking their bins out on rubbish night.

Just another reason for the losing side to complain about the results, really.

Here's hoping he doesn't become a martyr for it.

in countries that allow pineapple on pizza parents have lost their right to choose.

38 year old anarchist - so in other words this bloke's probably never had a job and saw opportunity to make a name for himself.

I bet he eats babies and steals old women's underwear too.

Or, uh, I guess he could be a musician who works as a musician.

He's a DJ.  It's an insult to real musicians to call him a musician.

That's just like saying you'd take a Star Wars fan edit over a plasticine stop-motion remake - 2 related but very different things.

Seems like a fair assessment of the current predicament of this particular-political-farce called voluntary-postal-vote-for equality-of-marriage.

http://www.abc.net.a...e-rails/8975074

" The words "Vote No" appear in the sky over Sydney and social media lights up with outrage.

A former prime minister is headbutted in the street and is accused online of "milking it". The Yes campaign is in serious danger of going off the rails, if it hasn't already.

No-one wanted this postal vote. Even the Government admits it's not its preferred option. But it's happening and the stakes couldn't be higher.

The Prime Minister confirmed this week that if the No camp succeeded, that would be the end of the matter — in this term of Government and the next. We're talking another four to five years at least.

If Bill Shorten wins the election and tries to legislate same-sex marriage within 100 days, he'll face accusations of defying the will of the people and stiff resistance from within."

It was nothing really remotely to do with that. It’s just about Tony Abbott, the fucking worm that he is. All it was is I saw Tony Abbott and I’d had half a skinful and I wanted to nut the cunt.

If Labor win and want to pass it within 100 days, it won't take much for them to look at the total number of No votes, if that wins, vs the number of people in the country. Just as some hardline NO politicians will do the same for a Yes win.
