This account sucks and is pretty transparent in it's bait-and-switch suckiness. I am however grateful that people jumped on board to offer not just help, but potential hardware.

Look on eBay, if you are desperate for a specific cpu.

...or post a Wanted To Buy around here, perhaps. Never know your luck...

Else any particular reason you need one? Might be easier/cheaper to upgrade to a lter CPU 'n mobo.

I have a pine of dual cores laying around. a literal pile. If you need something to get you out of a bind.

I've got lots of dual core 775 sitting on my work desk from gutted machines scrapped at work, most are the lower end variety. Some are celerons.

This is the last desktop socket 775 (Core 2) - Q9650. Get the Q9550 if you can't get one

I am ignoring the QX chips here as they are rare as hen's teeth.

Problem with LGA775 is that the high end ones still worth having cost too much on the used market.

Most Core2s will overclock at least to the next 33 MHz FSB boundary and generally you can bump the multiplier down as well.

So it can be worthwhile getting a midrange quad and flogging the arse off it - just note that you need to be running the thing about 20% faster than a 1st gen i7 just to be about par, so a Core2Quad @ 3.2-3.6 GHz sounds cool but won't exactly set the world on fire.

Evolution of the spammer.  2 years ago they were blatantly obvious due to no av and nonstandard font, with junk link embedded in OP.

Next up, user with av and use the default font.

Then, question only that sounds half legit, with second new user coming along 3 days later with junk links.

And now this.
