So... I've found that in the last year I've spent more money Kickstarting games than buying released games. By a fairly big margin.

I don't normally post about Kickstarter projects...

But felt like this one was good enough and strong enough that I might mention it to folks who hadn't seen it and might appreciate it.

Any game related Kickstarter projects you've seen on there that I might have missed? Let me know!

Kickstart thread ftw.

Tides of Numenera came out some time ago, now. It's not beyond possibility that it's a new find for you, though - I still have yet to play it, even though I own a copy.

Forgive us our distrust if you're genuine, Amelinda - we've had almost no new users that weren't spambots in a long while.

Not that I keep up with it but seems to me that crowdfunding has become the realm of unrealistic dreamers and corporate entities that would rather take people's money at no interest rather than go to the bank.  Long wait pre-orders are another subversive technique to aquire money at no interest in the medium term.

Prime example - Atari VCS (formerly AtariBox).  Pre-order on IndieGoGo.  This thing was announced probably 18 months ago and delayed probably until next year.  $2.9 million of punters money in the coffers.

And PS - I like the old incarnations of Atari.  But fuck every single rebirth since 1997.

Yeah, but what game are you talking about?

No doubt he or one of his friends will be along in a few days with some handy links for us.

While I think that's true for some things, I've either been extremely lucky or extremely careful where I've put my money.

I've been backing a few Kickstarter board games and have picked up some genuine gold there.  Gloomhaven, City of Kings, Now Boarding, other stuff.

All have been produced almost on time and have delivered a great product.
