#1203498 AMD Zen

nah, I agree with you!  It was the only board I could get when Ryzen was first released, there was a huge shortage with weeks of wait time on mb's.  They gave a free m.2 sata 240g drive with it, good price and had really good vrm setup.  It's the bios releases that is a pain when you hear of other mb getting releases quicker.  It's a good board just I really like Asrock for price/performance.  Also, at the time my old system was dead and was already waiting for AMD release as I wanted to go back to AMD.  I kinda wish I waited but oh well, all is running good now after tweaking ram and really the 2600x is a good chip all around.  I really cant wait till next year's Ryzen refresh, might upgrade my mb too then :)

Hearing about 5ghz on 6 cores out of the box is just crazy... delid and go to town!

Delid will be a necessity!

I wonder if these cherry picked cpu's run 5ghz without delid or throttle cuz of temps/load?  And still have head room for OC if delid?    I want one... but I want a lot of things haha

That would be great!  Firestrike, TimeSpy, Superposition, Valley... are a few free ones :)

Nice build man, look forward to pics!

On the side note, we use velcro instead of zip ties... Hate zip ties and need to cut them so higher risk when updating. So much easier when replacing or running more cables later in the racks.  I use velcro on my builds now too. It's cheap, reusable, lots of color options and easy to work with...

Almost seems like if you cannot OC to 4.3 on all cores, then it is not worth it since XRF2 seems to be doing a stellar job and boosts to 4.3.  I was reading the techpowerup, and was kinda confused at first.  He was able to get 1.4v to 4.2ghz but running stock yielded better results.  All in all looks like a good release, just not enough for me to upgrade.

I also read that AMD might have held back the 2800x waiting for Intel to respond, possibly aggressive binned parts.

AMD= Team Red?  Nvidia= Green   Intel= Blue    :)

Keep reading on how 1.5v was used to overclock the 2700x... Ive been running at ~1.4v for 4ghz and didnt want to go much over that.  I thought the recommendation was 1.45v for max with custom loop...  I might bump it up some more...

If the 2700x does come with boost of 4.35ghz, that would really interesting as that would be a nice performance increase.  If you can OC even a bit higher over that or get all cores to 4.35 without crazy temps, Id be tempted to pick one up.  Really hope they get the memory clocks up too.  Im running 2933 since 3200 just is not stable even after bios updates.

#1199070 AMD RX Vega announcement.

I just sold my RX 56 and it covered the price of a new 1080 Ti that I ordered.... basically a free upgrade, might come out ahead with a few extra bucks.  I have a love/hate for miners, cant believe what the RX 56/64 are going for used.  Wish I would have bought more of these when they were released!  I thought I might as well sell it before the bubble pops, maybe I should have held on to it longer but was happy to get 30-40% more gaming performance.

Well I sold my GTX 1070 for $4 more than what I paid for it (thanks miners).  Bought the RX 56 and it was $18 more than what I sold the GTX 1070.  Basically, Im doing another side upgrade so I can play with new stuff.  RX 56 has been great even with crap drivers.  Most things were about the same performance as my OC 1070 while running stock.

I decided to go ahead and flash the card as I was not able to get over 1500mhz on the core and the HBM2 ram didn't like anything over 800mhz.  I used the air version bios of RX 64 not the liquid.  It took without any issues.  Now when I run turbo mode it clock around 1560mhz and the ram is 945mhz.  I've been able to OC into the 1600mhz range but not sure its limits but know that 1700mhz is a no go.  If I can figure out the limits, I might try to flash to the liquid version as it gives even more watts available but need to test for current heat and the fan profiles to keep it under 80c.

Really a neat card and cant believe I have an all AMD system again... Super happy about that!

Similar to what Dasa posted, memory clock has large impact it seems:

So on gaming, it seems to suffer in lower res but high resolution it is spot on... Guru3d had OC all cores to 4.1g and results were good.

Would like to see motherboard roundup from a few sites next, even though I have one on order, just to see where they land

Gaming scores seem only ok... Cpu scores are amazing. Still reading reviews but would like to see OC results and clock to clock compared against Kaby in games. I'm sure they are out there but haven't got to them yet.

Edit:  looks like overclocking is lacking too...  Those that did OC in review that Ive looked at so far (at work so only get to view a bit at a time) didnt have temps...

MB was 140 US. I don't think even Kaby is win7 supported now too.

Got from Newegg in US. Cheapest x370 mb they had. Ordered mydigitalssd m.2 pci x4 120gb for boot, has great specs for price and some ddr4 evga SC 3200 cl16(didn't know they made ram) cheap.

Really hope these OC good and looks like EK are compatible. Any temps anyone find? The talk about extra cooling will increase performance so interested to see what that means

Pre-ordered 1700x and ASRock X370 Killer... cant wait!  Need to check on water block or if there is new mounting from EK.
