#1196254 Same-sex postal survey is a go

Posted by Xen on 20 September 2017 - 02:34 PM

I've always said I'd vote yes, my thought on a SSM vote has always been "why the fuck not".

But I keep seeing a lot of hatred and vitriol being spewed out in regards to this vote and its not coming from the side everyone said it would be.

I've seen death threats and threats of rape and I wish there was some way i could send a giant "fuck you" to these people without putting a mark in that no box.

I thought the same thing.

Except I know gay couples who hate these retards as much as I do, and don't even care if marriage goes ahead or not, because they've got everything they want.

So it used to be that I was ardently pro gay-rights. Now, I just want this issue put to rest, and not crop up again and again and again and again.

So I ticked yes. Because my life won't change.

Yeah that's my issue, if this piece of paper actually makes any difference then its too important a decision to be affected by the fuckwits at either extreme end of the argument for or against.

I'm just shitty because the proponents of SSM used to hold the high ground and now the vocal minority is scrabbling around in the mud and shit with the worst of the homophobes.

I know this sounds like an odd thing to say, but half the reason I have a problem with the whole not X therefore Y in genders, is because its so black and white.

Why can't you be an effeminate male?

What happened to tomboy females?

I even find the "born in the wrong time period" or the "born in the wrong species" or "gender fluid\Asexual" crowd less weird. They're less black and white, much more ....natural? or more fluid, like people are....

From a statistical mindset, the odds of not being X therefore being Y is a lot less likely then Not being X therefore being any of ABCDEFGHIJKL~etc.

A boy or girl being more masculine or effeminate is no issue, but you are still the gender that you were born as.

The issue i see is sexual identity and gender identity, you might show traits more common for the other gender but you are not and will not be that gender.

It's the same as the Weeaboos, you can sit there and stuff your face with poky sticks and speak in broken Japanese but you are not and will not be Japanese.

For most of them its just a phase, it goes longer than that and TBH its a mental issue and that's fine, I just don't think we have to play into their mental issues and pretend that its all fine.

I'm quite openly weeaboo; and thats the difference.

I'm white.

I'm Australian.

I like Japanese culture.

I enjoy pretending I'm japanese top-shit.

Why is this not a problem?

Because I know what reality is and can admit what it is and isn't. I know where the fantasy ends.

There we go and that's the difference between it being a problem and it not being a problem.

The way it would be a problem would be if i said I didn't agree with it and then hundreds of Weeaboo's then send me death threats and try to get me fired.

She agreed to another date. ^_^

How nice of her

Haha, I know right? :P

Hah :)

imo... she's either very blasé or studiously being nonchalant wrt Cyb3r ;) I reckon he should return the blasé

" she doesn't use her fb very much " ... oh paleease !

I think D is right, I asked the guy that set me up with her and he told me that she refuses to touch her phone when with other people. She certainly honored that on our date. But she's also into charity work so maybe (probably) Xen is on the money too! :P

Just don't over think or over analyse it.

Very easy to shoot yourself in the foot doing so.

I was actually going to ask the other day... How do these $60-$90 premade systems with CPU block only compare to a mid to high end stock heatpipe/tower setup on air?

I did see a while back that results on a lot of them was actually worse than high end air.

That show is a hell of a head fuck in some ways.

To help prevent these sort of occurences legislation has been introduced to limit the temperature to 50deg C, you can call this being a nanny state but where do you want to draw the line, what level of carnage is acceptable?

I hope you have plastic knives and forks at home too.

Hell fuck it, lets just stick everyone in government approved padded cells whilst we're at it.

#1176686 When will I ever make the switch? (Never?)

Posted by Xen on 07 June 2016 - 02:06 PM

Been using OpenSuse for years now as my primary machine for web browsing / work.

I keep Windows on a separate partition for gaming (which i seem to be doing less and less now).

For what i do there is no need for Windows for me and the majority of my work servers are Linux so it makes it easier to manage them (Putty sucks compared to a Linux console).

The only Adobe products i use is Coldfusion and soon that's going to get tossed out.

So for me the opposite is true, I see no reason to use windows.

Why is Windows so crap?

Any why are services trying to still use ipv6 despite the fact that an ipv4 address is specified?

Screw you Windows at least with Linux everything just works here.

Hmm,

In my very younger years growing up in the west country of England I was once party to rescuing a tractor driver after a roll over - they really were not a stable vehicle in those days and killed a lot of farmers - much better now.

I'm not explaining well - best guess as a hobby farmer he had a quad to have a hoon around, totally understandable, I've memories of that kind of hooning indelibly imprinted on my body, but I'm still alive.. Just very, very sad....

Cheers

Seen the bad ends of both a tractor roll over and PTO shaft incident.

Farming is a job that a slight fuck up can be death or destitution.

#1175492 Smart and Dumb clothing !

Posted by Xen on 20 May 2016 - 03:28 PM

Even if i stick a chip into stilettos, I'd still consider them dumb.

At the AWS conference there was a stall with a sign that said "Internet of thongs" where you could get a free set of thongs with a chip in them.

They were going like hotcakes, I'm pretty sure Director would have had a fit.

Trying to calculate how many boxes i need to buy for packing ,its mind boggling. SO far it sits at 12 boxes ,8 for DVD's and 4 for Clothes and other stuff.

Got brand new Back pack never used cost me $385 with Rain cover same design as British Army Packs.

I own a lot DVD's and some collector books. Found my X-Files book on a analysis of each episode. Got a book on DrWho ,Star Trek Original series.

Found a MAD comic on Star Trek Generation. And a Collector Mug of Foghorn Leghorn from the cartoons.

I've just been going into coles and woolworths and grabbing any decent boxes before they get crushed.

The cost of boxes is a bit annoying.

12 boxes is probably less than what we needed for the workshop.
