#1195081 how crap is this government ?

"The West Australian Government is in talks with the Commonwealth to take traffic fine payments out of welfare cheques in a bid to reduce the Indigenous incarceration rate.

In some remote areas, almost half of Indigenous inmates are behind bars for unpaid traffic fines.

WA Attorney-General John Quigley said he had been discussing the idea with Federal Social Services Minister Christian Porter.

"[It would be] a modest amount, that wouldn't … deprive them of their sustenance to life and accommodation," Mr Quigley said.

"But it would mean that they wouldn't fall behind and be in arrears to the point where they've got to be imprisoned."

Oh my !

Not paying traffic fines puts them in jail. And now to keep the " Indigenous" out of jail the WA Gov think it might be good to dock their welfare cheques. :\

Why not instead of jailing or docking the money that feeds them and possible family, get them to do community services to work off the fine.

These are not the only people capable of being pollies. These are simply the current lot of people too intent on telling us all how we should live and what taxes we should get without first dotting their " i"s and crossing their "t"s. I'd much prefer people who understood fully the rules and ramifications before telling us all how to be :)

A few weeks back when Jeruselem posted the possible exit of Barnaby, I did grin. Today I cackled heartily :)

I love how all these pollies just think they have a right to be there cos they want to ;) each and everyone should resign from the job and take their future chances if they so choose.

I can almost hear Malcy wondering if he can do a ' Howard ' and amend the law to suit the shit fest they currently find their selves in. But you know, if they do decide to just go ahead and not bother with a plebiscite to see how we all feel about the alien pollies possibly fraudulently taking our money in exorbitant salaries and expense accounts, and change the law, then they can bloody well pull their fingers out of their backsides and return the law to once again allow marriage equality.

Wouldn't they be breaking the law if they refused the job cos they couldn't accept the customer/s ?  Usually, only aggressive / unruly customers are denied service.

This is the bit I never have supported, and never will. If you provide a service, it is your right to refuse that service to anyone - for any reason! And that includes churches, who put on the showy part and fairy dust. (That is not the right of an individual in the employ of said provider, however, so that clerk in the US did have to give the guy his licence. Dunno about the cake - was she the business owner?)
The *government* OTOH has no such right, and thus MUST allow *legal* marriage between same sex couples. That's the bit that matters anyway, because it controls adoption, visitation, estate settlement etc.
Since the NLP are going to vote "No" anyway, it's all a bit moot.
I think the person doing the cake decorating was not the owner ... I think.
Like I said above you can choose how to deny your business to people. << That sentence is just so counter intuitive to productive business. It's not like you'd be denying your business to criminals per say. ... although I guess being strangers you wouldn't really know if they were criminals would you ?
so you think i should offer options in my pie shop for halal, vegan, gluten free, non beef eaters, even thogh they make up a minute % of the population?

###########

while this vote should be a nobrainer, the 'yes' side is fractured
you look at all the noise makers, all the court challengers, the gay community. the process may not be perfect, but it is a way forward. they should stop their protests and get behind the vote

throwing tantrums will not win the vote

It's your pie shop TMFP. You should run your private business as you see fit. I'm pretty sure that to have operated your business for a few decades now, you don't go abusing people just cos you don't follow their customs beliefs w/e. In fact I'd gamble you'd likely serve anyone in your shop providing they didn't give you any OTT shit.

The cake thingy was iirc cos an employee decided their beliefs stopped them from following through on a customer request. ... You, TMFP are the employer, you get to decide how your business operates... after all, it's your capital paying for it.

My better half thinks this postal vote thing a fair thing too. He says we should ALL have the right to vote on the marriage equality issue. And that 122 million is small bickies to pay considering how much more of our money the pollies waste on a daily basis. :\ I don't like what this vote is already doing bringing in o/s marketing dudes to rally the cause and o/s money along with it. It really gets my dander up when I realise this whole shit fest would not even be occurring if Howard hadn't decided he knew better than everyone else and changed the wording of the law to stop same sex marriage / marriage equality. <<< And that's about the jist of why I'd prefer the pollies just got on with doing the right thing and change back the wording to what it was.

So. Was chatting with a Canadian today. Mentioned that I was re-watching Twin Peaks. She had no clue of what I was on about. So I talked of how the show was a huge hit here on it's first release in 1990 and the, " She's Dead ... Wrapped in plastic " , was known by just about every living person ...

She then said " I was born in 1990 " . :| ... And that " maybe after she and her boyfriend finished watching Sienfield, they would maybe take a look at TP"

It was like I was suddenly conversing with a real live alien !

The bloody pollies should all have the chance to make a vote in the Parliament. Whether their vote is based on their own conscience or based on their individual electorate's majority view, its up to each and every pollie to decide on the criteria they choose. Whatever the vote is, that's it.

Then as you say Nich we can go to the next election except, when it's due please. Toooo much time is wasted on stupid petty squabbles.

Stop wasting our fucking money on this shit.

Spend it on goods and services this country needs ... you know . making abused kids safe. keeping our roads maintained. Building up our workforce, make them capable of using the millions of tons of recycled stuffs we habitually produce.

Also anyone that's not prepared to be an Australian citizen only, need not apply to be a pollie. And if you're found to have more than one citizenship, whatever the reason, you're out. If you do eventually manage to own Aussie citizenship only, then you start at the bottom of the pool again and work your way up if you can and want to.

it seems we know how to use our re-cycling bins too well. But it also seems State Gov.s know how to tax for landfill levy and find other uses for that tax ...go figure :\

" Mr Musgrove said there needed to be a more coordinated effort by state and federal governments.

"Some governments are very responsive and are doing everything they can, and some governments are caught napping or simply hope it would all go away," he said.

In Victoria, Mr Musgrove said "hundreds of millions of dollars being raised as revenue from the landfill levy" was not being spent.

"Recycling is effectively being taxed to prop up a state government budget," he said."

Once again it's said to be cheaper to import glass than to re-use our own . That is just so stupid, and when you think of the wasted land needed to bury this used glass, ultimately, to import new glass, becomes not the cheapest method.

I'm about ready for QLD Labor to go fuck itself. Seriously. Their lack of care of DOCS etc and the rail bizness, leaves me feeling decidedly cold towards their election worries.

http://www.abc.net.a...nsville/8756404

Apparently Mr Canavan has been sending voting forms back to Italy.
I mean, he knows he's an Italian citizen!

Really ? I thought Canavan was saying he's had no direct contact with Italian forms ... all mail was apparently directed to his mum's address ...

Still though the way he's sprouting his legal advice as making him innocent of negligence (even ) is most unappealing . He should have resigned fully as the others did.

Got caught in the mother of all downpours early this morning. I was on my Electric bike too :-(

The driving rain meant I had my head down when I rode under a subway and "Whoooosh" I found myself in about a metre of water ! The electrics started playing funny buggers after that !!

Got home and my iPhone is buggered too

Grrr

electric + water = drowned iPhone  <<< sounds like a fucker of a day . Hope tomorrow is dryer.

The next Doctor to be Jodie Whittaker. Loathe or like the idea, she's not a bad actress. Whether she'll be good in the role of Doctor * shrugs*

Ye just reading a thread on another forum about this. Jeez talk about a bunch of whiny misogynistic dickheads.

You'd think they'd wait to be " whiny misogynistic dickheads " till after an episode or two has been shown. She's proven she can act an tbh I can see her having a go at this role, but it all depends on the rest of the cast and crew and of course, the writing. If the others are ambivalent to her presence there the show will be a flop.

Well geez ! That is about the end of any hope of sanity coming from that Party with Sotty gone.  :\ Di Natale says the " Senate will be so much poorer". I'd say it will

make life very bloody hard for the Greens. imo, Scotty gave the party some gravitas and a little backbone.

Year number five is here ! I can actually go days now without being disgusted about ciggies. Don't be misunderstanding me here, the smell still disgusts me. It's just that I don't get the need to be all outspoken about my disgust ;) and it was only during a quiet moment today when I realised why the time of this month held relevance for me. For both of us I should say.

Here's to the next few decades of just trying to survive living in a world polluted by other Government sanctioned poisons ! :)

"More than 5 percent ... more than 15 percent...

Even if I take those figures as gospel, that's 85% of scientists who are dead straight. There's more bent cops than that.

LOL Cybes ;)  ... surely you have to produce citation for that ... especially in this thread :)  Geez you can't be making rash statements like that :P

Came home from work in the early hours to discover some arsewipe had smashed my daughters passenger window and ripped out her cheapo dashcam.

Stupid bastard even left the power lead behind.

£302 for a new window all for a (now) useless £40 dashcam

http://i.imgur.com/PmAYGcC.jpg

maybe they didn't need the power lead ;P such a stupid waste of your time and money ... All cars should be fitted with bullet /shatter proof windows. ... that automatically pop out when the car has been in a road accident ... and yes the vehicle is smart enough to register the diff between a road accident and a stupid tosser thief.
