So Matt Canavan's Law dude is going on the offensive and calling the High Court proceedings " offensive " and " inappropriate ". LOL

I will draw attention to the fact he says something of what I said up the page  bit, ie the fact Aus. has always been a country of immigrants ... well actually I used the term " multi cultural " but, well same-o-same-o ... but then Bennett ( the law dude ) says ... "  said various changes to Italian law had led to the situation currently before the court," ... which I think is not quite so and a bit flakey to boot. I mean Canavan's there cos ' his mum signed him up for Italian citizenship without telling him  ' << always makes me smirk that does.

I guess you and Senator Clinton have things in common then ;) I wonder how all her young femme fans feel about it. And aslo you have not stood on a platform proclaiming to look after the rights of women in today's society, you haven't used that to garner votes of support in a bid for POTUS... I'd say that makes a difference, imo, it should anyways. Also what is "geas" ?

The money was accepted when she (presumably) did not know of his activities. Any favours it bought then are done; any future are cancelled - now you're left with a pile money annd you can either give it back (making the scumbag richer, which I personally would interpret as rewarding him for finding out he is in fact scum), or use it for good (either your own good purpose, or a charity). To anyone wants to splutter about that: If you have a problem with that, then suggest an alternative.

Oh! And a geas is a magical compulsion.

Maybe the Senator is or was not a fan of 30Rock.... but I reckon she would have some staff doing checks on the person/s donating money to her party ... The Senator has been in the pollie game for decades and as such would and did mingle with lots of the famous femmes in the acting world.

And thanks for illuminating that "geas" was not the typo I thought it was :)

@ Nich. Yes correct. But the Senator made such an almighty fuss about a private conversation Trump had in the back of a bus between him and another dude some years ago, and here she is accepting money and proudly standing by the side of a man who is at the least an intimidating lecherous man using his power to gain sexual favours from women.

That's some fukin' double-standard ;)

Even Patrick's delivery could not sustain us / me over the consistent use of the holo-deck to make the story for most of the latter episodes. As with most long running shows the writers get stale. Scott and his dog that seemed to live permanently in Scott's tiny cell of a room annoyed me rather a lot. Such total lack of proper care for the animal !

Yeah, I never liked the Holodeck. You've already got a show set in a fantastical sci-fi universe with limitless possibilities - and to then have so many stories set in a magical Daydream Land safely on board the ship where nothing has any consequence. Mind-boggling.

You don't like the Holodeck ? I do. Apart from the obvious simulated training possibilities, I don't think people will ever get tired of experiencing a bit of fantasy in their life, whatever the era and technology advancements....

First things first : *waves* good to see your avatar on the page:)

It's not that I didn't like the Holodeck, it was that I became less enthralled by it's continuous use to make a show about a ship filled with hundreds of crew travelling through space.

Unless of course it was the aim of the show to say that well space travel is boring cos there's really nothing out there so we use our own inventions to allow us to pretty much go back in time to what ever era we like and insert ourselves into a scene or two ... ;)

My present win rate in the ST-I is about 60%. And by god am I glad to have taken Walt's suggestion of the IS-3 gun the BL 9. without which I would probably avoid this tank forever more.

I don't do much more than scare the enemy. I spent my precious gold and gave it camo so it at least looks on first site  sight like it should be respected. << Also happen to think this has helped my survival rate to have at least a score ;)... and onward I go to research a much needed better turret

" "Lack of wage growth and high household debt have created a difficult retail environment and that will continue to contain retail sector growth over the next few years."

Granted the article is based on the low figures for August, but the trend has been on the slide for months now and will continue <<< this is our recession folks.

This is what paying less in wages for the lower wage brackets does. And, since generally there's more low to lower middle class than ' wealthy-who-gives-fuck ' earners, things are only going to get worse.

Quoting video cos it needs to be

I suppose the gun lobby could be useful for something. If you think as some do, then it's a way to help keep the population down a little ...

Personally I think allowing abortion as a control of unwanted people is maybe a wee bit better than gunning down indiscriminates having fun

edit: attempt to improve grammar

#1196496 Same-sex postal survey is a go

Posted by eveln on 28 September 2017 - 08:11 PM

" A million Australian households will be the target of an automated phone poll on same-sex marriage conducted on behalf of conservative senator Cory Bernardi."

" "I've done the voiceover for this call so people recognise they're talking directly to an elected politician rather than going through some anonymous research company," Senator Bernardi said."

The people aren't talking directly to him, it's a recording ffs ;)

If he really was determined to make the cold-call work he would manually do the calls ... that should keep him gainfully employed for a few years.

Well that's the dates there . Families will have been organising their schedules  accordingly ...

How many envelopes will be left sitting in mail boxes or scattered wherever due to homes not occupied ? ;)

saw a pic yesterday in courier mail of Penny Wong and Christopher Pyne wearing the prescribed yes-vote t-shirt and rallying alongside others. If Pyne is out there all smiles with the opposition then I'd say it's almost a forgone conclusion that we eventually have lawful ssm. Living up here in the boonies I don't get to physically witness the hate-speech and threats that are said to be happening. but you know if Howard and his cronies of the day hadn't stuck their fucking noses in and arbitrarily decided to change the letter of the law like that then this particular scrum of hatefulness would not now be occurring ... as to there being another reason for hate-speech happening, well I'd say that's pretty much a given.

It seems like we're getting a bit like the US here now with so many people greatly divided on issues.

Hopefully its just temporary and dies off a bit once this is done.

I don't think it's so much that we are copying USA. It's the basic rightness of the idea of equality of marriage itself really that's got people soo up-in-arms.

The beauty of not watching commercial tv and living in the boonies and paying little to no attention to the scum in my internetting is that the extremists just don't exist for me . I know I'm lucky in that ;)

@ @~thehung ... who'd wanna bid / buy one anyway  o_0 ... it's not like the count of this postal is gonna make a diff .

Oh I reckon there'll be some who'll be tempted to bother to non-vote since they don't pay for the mailing of it . And I reckon there'll be interest at the ABS end of things to gauge the messed up ones too. But like with the whole idea not being compulsory and all it really won't be a true representation still ;)

This Insiders vid of " The High Court Outsourced " is a real National Treasure  ... only a few minutes and should put at least a smile on your dial.
