About Me

Matt Ingle grew up in a small town called Bellingen, (Mid-North Coast of Australia). He was constantly to be found in the music room of his high school. Adding impetus to his already burgeoning interest in music, his loving and supportive father Bryan Ingle gave 16 year old Matt his first guitar a Riviera 12 string acoustic.

Matt taught himself to play his favourite songs by ear. At that time he was a fan of the likes of: Silverchair, Placebo, Tool, Metallica, Korn, Papa Roach and such. The music bug had well and truly bitten Matt and the creative juices really started to flow. Matt started to pen his own songs. At age 16 he showed so much natural talent that those close to him were blown away by his natural ability.

In 2000 Matt expanded his musical interests from the staple of Rock/Heavy metal/Thrash to Electronica. This was where Matt began to experiment with the Ejay’s “Techno Ejay 2” software. Creating music with pre-made samples gave Matt Ingle the format to create a solid platform to produce music.

In late 2003, Matt moved to Sydney to finish his HSC (Higher School Certificate). Once again the school environment proved fruitful for Matt’s insatiable appetite for musical learning. Matt discovered Sonic Foundry’s “Acid Pro 4” audio production software. This really pulled him towards the TRANCE genre. Matt was using many melodic, progressive and psychedelic sounds to create his underground tracks.

Matt’s first gig was organised by a stalwart of the Australian music industry, Ruby, (of Ruby Dance). Ruby has always had a keen eye for raw talent and is one of those rare beings that is able to nurture and guide that talent and also treat the artists with the utmost respect.

Matt recalls that the night was called “Unity” and was held at one of Sydney’s largest venues, Arq Nightclub. “I played the opening set and thought I was going to have a heart attack. It was a huge natural high. It was an amazing, awe inspiring experience. You only need one influential person to believe in me and Ruby was it!” Ruby still works with Matt to this day.

Being totally in THE ZONE, Matt started his now famous promotional CD compilation: For The Love of Trance Sessions. In 2009 Ruby approached Matt with an idea for a fresh Trance theme to be launched at another of Sydney’s most popular dance venues: Home Nightclub. Sublime was launched on a Friday night 30th of October 2009. What Matt wasn’t expecting was that he would be playing the closing set after Jon O’Bir. (One of the World’s best producers and DJs!) Once again the pumping natural high that Matt had experienced at his first professional gig, was kicking in again. “It’s times like these that you either rise to the occasion or you fall flat on you face, never to work again” says Matt. “As a professional I had the 2 most important things working for me. (The 2 rules I learned years before) Keep your ego in check and read the crowd. Give’em what they want”.

Matt’s set on the night started very badly. He had done what all good DJ’s do, he had planned the first few tracks of the night before hand, but decided to change his first track. The crowd had other ideas. Before the first track was finished the once packed dance floor was empty but for 4 people. Having checked his ego at the door, Matt knew what the crowd was in the mood for. Half way through track 2, the dance floor was full again and remained that way until close. As usual, Ruby remained the ever calm promoter, standing back and believing in this talented DJ with an ear to ear grin. A true professional!

Not resting on his laurels, Matt took the Sublime experience as inspiration to heighten his creative learning curve. His next foray was into producing his podcast: Live Essentials of Trance. This allowed Matt to explore and share the different aspects that makes Trance what it is. The added advantage with this project was that Trance lovers from around the world were able to tap into the creative genius that is Matt Ingle (Matt humbly rejects this accolade!).

Today Matt is working with DJs and producers around the World and is solidifying his foundations for the next big step in his career. “When I hit the World stage, I must be prepared. So, I am always honing my skills, learning as many new things as I can. You must never stop learning!”

The next step is an Audio Engineering degree at the much respected SAE College. Also, a World fact finding tour is planned.
