Well, it's been a while, duders!  Been a good long while.

Finally got back into some proper *gaming* (rather than just painting) over the last few weeks.

GW's "Kill Team" box set of last year really gave me the drive to hit some smaller battles.  Playing a bastard blend of KT & 40K rules while we get back into the swing of things, but plenty of fun is being had and that, I think, is way more important than rules Nazism.

Also, decided this week that I'd had enough of Ultramarines.  I've been playing the Space Smurfs for over 20 years, so into a bucket of Simple Green they went.

Going to go Imperial Fists this time around.  Should be fun!

Soooo...there's a Mind Games shutting down a few 'burbs over from where I live.  Scored me a few games for cheap.

(not shown, the fistful of M:TG boosters I also snagged)

#1174839 Any model ship builders here? I'm building the HMS Endeavour!

Posted by hectorbustnuts on 13 May 2016 - 03:58 PM

I tried building the HMS Victory many years ago, but I cracked the shits with it and chucked it in the bin.

My interest in these things waxes and wanes, and as much as I'd love to try and build a timber ship again, I just haven't got the space to store it when I'm not interested in it.

I've still got a half-completed OO Hornby train set under the sofa in the living room that I really want to get back to, too.

I just dumped the pics on Imgur, and dropped in the direct URL.

I like that "back then" sometimes dribbles across into "now".

Look at the love for Dexxie & Kurai when their place burned down.

A massive number of us still have a bunch of Atomican friends, if in a somewhat more fractured way than we did in the forum's heyday.

As you can see, my games cupboard is just as bad. :p

I see you have Tsuro and Zombies!!! Both are awesomely fun.

Hot damn!  That's an impressive collection, right there!

http://www.ew.com/ar...efender-trailer

Animated by the same studio as the recent "Legend of Korra" series, this has pre-teen me doing backflips of joy in my mind.

Seriously...how does that trailer not give you a boner?

#1174610 And What Are You Listening To?

Posted by hectorbustnuts on 12 May 2016 - 04:00 PM

I've been listening to a *fuck-tonne* of synthwave stuff recently.

Perturbator, Carpenter Brut, D.Notive, Behemoth, Dance with the Dead, John Carpenter, Moondragon, Dynatron...80s-vibe goodness.

As in John Carpenter the movie director?

The one and only.

His new (recent, I guess) "Lost Themes" albums have been stellar:

#1174603 Prince is dead........long live the Prince!

Posted by hectorbustnuts on 12 May 2016 - 03:38 PM

I was lucky enough to see him do his Piano and Microphone tour here in Melbourne a couple of months back (17th Feb).

I was truly gutted when I heard the news of his passing.  Just shocked, especially having seen him in real life, jumping around, and belting out songs.  He was so full of life.

Still kind of hard to wrap my head around his not being on the planet, any more.

Him, and Bowie.  Rest in peace.
