![]() I saw it on my way home on the bus, so I snapped a picture of it with my phone (very bad phone). I just thought it was kinda funny that someone actually bought it. :\ -------------------- Dot.

Lolita is a fantastic movie. I suggest everyone watches it atleast once.
Lyne did a remake of it as well, in 1997 - i'm honestly not sure which version i prefer. -------------------- afk

One of Kubrick's best IMO.

I thought it was boring.
I appreciate that it's technically a good film, just not my cuppa tea. Edit: Actually, I did enjoy part of it..... The first part of the title is "LOL". :P This post has been edited by SquallStrife: Jun 25 2009, 02:02 PM -------------------- KEN SENT ME

Well yeah, it's hardly an action packed monster movie....
Well written, well acted, a masterpiece rarely seen these days. -------------------- afk

I didn't enjoy either movie tbh, but I am fussy...
The book is very well written and very moving. What's wrong with buying books, tezlin? Do you think reading is evil too? -------------------- I saw this wino, he was eating grapes. I was like, "Dude, you have to wait."

Zackly, like I said, I see that it's a good film, I would certainly never bag someone for liking (and/or buying) it. But forgive me if I'm distracted by something shiny. :P -------------------- KEN SENT ME

It's kind of funny someone bought what is regarded as a modern classic? What he said. Just because that particular word has certain negative connoitations in the online world shouldn't detract from the fact that it's a brilliant bit of writing. Err... I'm saddened that they bought it from Borders. And also what Sap said. |

I think Sap summed it up best. I haven't read it but I've been lead to believe it's a classic work of fiction. Not entirely sure I'm seeing the funny, but hey, I am getting old :-p
True... The Dymocks store in the Brisbane CBD is closed, I can't wait for it to reopen. Shopping at Borders in the interim makes me sad. I know! :-( I work just down the road from that store, and I used to go there for a wander around the aisles at lunchtime when I needed a walk. Never did get around to reading that one -- it's been on the list for a while. Actually, I've not really read any Russian authors. I think I'll need to do a whole bloc of them at once.

If thats the case why did you bother bringing up the negative connotations of the term lolita on the net, considering it got that meaning from the book itself in the first place? Juggalo, the fact that paedophilia is frowned upon doesn't bear relevance to the literary merit of a work of fiction.
Murder/rape are also frowned upon. Clockwork orange, best example of literary gratuity. This post has been edited by cobwebs in the sky: Jun 25 2009, 05:30 PM -------------------- -
