Kinda agree with Nesquick, if you dont get what they "think" is good, they might not be happy. If the card does fail, they will blame said camp. Let them know the other options but just let them pick.

Guy at work insisted on getting a 560 ti 2gb, even though the HD 7870 was nearly the same price 4 months back. He still is very happy with his card, and it is a good card, just he could have got some free performance for the same price.

considering the offerings a couple of days in and following some suggestions
you get a galaxy gtx660ti oc for 349 at pccg add 13 dollars postage and 46 for borderlands 2 lol,
and you are still under the price some others sell a gigabyte oc edition for 419.
worth it, considering the warranty issue (thanks @dasa)

I might have been a bit hasty about the 660 ti, it does seem like a decent card, but really was expecting more performance.

This card seems, in the reviews I've looked at, to be spanking everything.

can anyone confirm if this means that there will be no driver support on the future for this product,or is it just me misunderstanding?

Supports the new GeForce GTX 660 Ti GPU.
Legacy Support Notification: GeForce 6-series and GeForce 7-series GPUs will be moved to legacy support after GeForce R304 drivers. GeForce R310 drivers (the next major family of drivers) will not support these products.

whenever they change to R310 drivers (probably when the bugs are ironed out) it will move to being less of a priority is the way I read it.

The only people that need to "worry" about that are the dwindling GeForce 6 and 7 users. They'll get no further driver updates, unless there are security flaws found. Same as what happened with all other legacy cards

Would this be a suitable card for my 30" monitor. I'm looking to upgrade from a GTX480 and would like somehting that doesn't struggle.

660ti will be a downgrade from a gtx480 especially on a high res 30" monitor
7970 would be your best choice or maybe wait for next gen cards

Probably not. You would be better off with a 670 or 680 or a 7950 or 7970 with a 30" monitor. The 660ti would struggle at high resolutions because of its decreased memory bandwidth. If you're not going to be pushing it hard then it won't matter so much but if your 480 is struggling then I imagine the 660ti won't be a monstrous improvement, about 15 - 20% if my research is accurate.

and you can gain more than 15-20% by overclocking the gtx480

I can't imagine SLI GTX480 struggle with that much apart from noise, which can be cured with better cooling.

I don't think he is running sli I think it's just one gtx 480 and in that case I say it's about time you upgrade but get something like a gtx 670 or 7950 much better value

It just said it in his sig, I figured he meant he has SLI GTX480's maybe.

still good cards though, I would be happy if I had 2 of them.
