when those windows updates happen overnight?
I leave my comp on 24/7 and every now and then I find that it;s rebooted owing to some windows 7 update - how can I stop this, and reboot it in my own sweet time?
anyone know?

Control Panel > Windows Updates

There's a Settings link on the left.

Doesn't allow you to set delay the reboot function though.

I guess the closest you can come is to change the setting to 'download updates automatically but let me choose when to install them' or whatever it is.

Yea Nuke is right, set it to either 'fuck off completely' or 'alert me but don't do anything unless I tell you'. Once it does download an update, prepare to be harassed with a reminder every 4 hours until you do reboot too. And if you miss is, it will reboot within 10 minutes unless you manually postpone it.

I have automatic update disabled altogether. I run it manually when I feel the need.

hmmmm......it might just come to that - M$ bring out updates the first tuesday of every month, plus the fact that I do check pretty regularly, it can't make much/any difference.

But doing that don't you get the annoying action centre popup occasionally warning you about updates being disabled?

Just set to "let me decide whether to download and install"

Best option.

You can and should disable that too. :)
Edit: Somewhere in action centre settings, you can stop the notifications.

You've been bumping a lot of threads lately. Ones that are more than likely solved by now.

Probably best to try and keep it to more recent threads that are still relevant.

Not trying to be a cunt. Just noticed that most of your posts have been bumps like this, and the people that tend to do it the most are the ones that just want to get into trademart.

Sorry - Just seeing something new and finding out it's just an old thread is irritating.
