I thought it might be useful to see what people are using to protect their systems. I'm on Mcafee (Provided by my bank) and MBAM. I have been a long time user of Eset Smart Security, but decided to use Mcafee seeing as it's free.

And you?

Avast Internet Security on the home pcs and Adaware when I am worried about other malware. Gone off AVG it was a bloody system hog.

Avast and Malwarebytes, along with a little common sense like viremia mentioned.

Got a 3 PC licence for Kaspersky IS.
As far as MBM goes don't have it installed but I often temporarily install and run the free version on customer PCs to check for any crap that their AV missed.
Will use SAS at times as well on customer PCs.
On my Win Home server V2 box I am using Immunet 3.0 free as KIS and every other one I tried refused to install because it is a server OS.
Well except for Comodo Free, but I disliked it so uninstalled it.

MSE and MBAM, why ? Because it works with the minimum of fuss and bulk licences for MBAM are so cheap. Not that they have picked up anything on my machine since I Started using them a few years ago, as I am careful with my machine and also use mail washer. But I like to have these solutions in place just to be sure, as I also do my banking on line. :)

Avast at the desktop and untangle upsteam. Zero problems since using this combination.

Zonealarm Extreme, works well for me. Has picked up a few things and proved itself.

Just swapped from Avira to MSE last night. I've been using Avira for years, but just recently it was starting to throw a lot of false positives and I just got sick of it. From what I understand MSE may have a slightly lower detection rate, but it's nice and light and doesn't bug me all the time.

Avast free, swapped from AVG because the interface became horribly cluttered and it was slow. Seems pretty good overall, I like it.

Also use malwarebytes just in case, but I don't think it's needed if you know what you're downloading.

And comodo free firewall.

On my WHS2011 box I use bitdefender free, because it's one of the few that work with the OS. Figure it's important since it's internet-connected.

I use Avast, ZoneAlarm firewall, and MBAM - all free
they don't seem to slow my system much, if at all, and don't ask too many stupid questions
the microsoft stuff is still a bit flakey imho, seems to work fine in some machines, and not in others - it didn't like my configuration at all, wouldn't update, wouldn't scan etc so I removed it.

MSE and MSE

Used to use AVG Free, but it's thinly veiled nag-ware.

MSE is all I use on my main desktop. If I ever did have malware issues, I'd more likely format rather than try to remove it with an anti-malware program.
