Just trying to finalise what i need in my new PC..

Here is what i have:

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_p...tion=wish_lists

Not Sure what Ram to go for? I was looking at the G-skills as well.... is there any benefit with the faster ram over 1600.

Is it better to buy a 4 module kit? does it effect perfromance?

The OCZ solid State looks good...any other suggestions?

Should i be going for a Z77 Mobo? And the new Ivy bridge CPU or just get a 2500k and overclock with a diffrent mobo? suggestions?

I went through the Parts list on top of the building section and used that as a partial guide....but i feel i kind of fall between some of catergorys.

Any input welcome.

Edit: and video card...i started a thread in the GPU forum.... but if you have any suggestions...i wanted the 6870...but i can get the 7850 for similar price and have 2gig ram? thoughts? (also would like to shred some money from it too... get it back to just below $900.

For a start nobody but you can see that wish list, you either have to type it out or take a screeny and host it with PCCG.

if you like tweaking and overclocking then going over 1600mhz ram may be worth it otherwise no you wont notice a difference
1155 only supports dual channel so 4 sticks wont improve performance beyond giving you more ram which will be of no use in any current games but can be of use in a few things
mb and ram are a good place to save some cash
i have a soft spot for the ASUS P8Z77-M PRO $145
ssd is nice but you can go without for now that or maybe the hdd and use an old one for now
just grabbed a seagate 2tb myself and while the price is nice and its read speed is nice the head parking and warranty sucks
look at a $35 mouse there is a thread with a good list of them and a $10 kb any will do imo most generics have been better than the two razer arctosa i used

Ok, thanks dasa.

I have refine my list and i am happier with it...cut some fat from it.

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_p...tion=wish_lists

Dasa didnt appear to have any problems reading the link? anyone else? i can post up a photo if need be...i did leave the list public.

What do you think about getting that corsaid ramm? supposed to be designed for the Z77 so i thought i would get just 8gig or it rather than 16gig of something less.

thanks.

My bad, took me to the log in page so I assumed it would log me in to my wish list :|

and he's saying that unless you use a CPU with a K (or X in socket 2011) suffix then it will not overclock at all.

3570K will o/c
3550 will not.

Ok gettting closer. Im going for the 3570k now. it is only $25 more than the 2500k so i may as well get that with the mobo Dasa reccomended.

I think i am all good... PCCG prices seem to be OK... i can get some things cheaper but generally all the same price or near too..

Thanks for the help.

I've been pleasantly surprised by the Asrock boards - I'd always just assumed that they were cheap and nasty, but, after owning a couple, I can sing nothing but their praises.
I first had a Z68 Pro3 Gen3, which overclocked like a demon, then, after a succession of troubles with 'better' Gigabyte and Asus boards, I now have the Z69 Exteme4 Gen3, and I'm truly rapt. it's a great board - one of the best I've ever owned, in fact.
so, if you're looking for a new board, I'd certainly suggest considering Asrock

My most recent build sits on an asrock mobo and very happy with it. Nice easy to use bios and manual.

What keyboard are you looking at?

I was thinking of getting one of those razer keyboards....but like DASA said..it is just a keyboard.

I currently have a Micro soft one which i will just keep using and find a old one for my current PC to be downgraded to office PC.

The World is full of enough E-waste already with out me buying another keyboard.

Never had AS rock.... Turns out they are ASUSTEK any way... same company.

I just looked at the AS Rock Z77 PRO4 M:

And you would be excused for thinking it was the:ASUS P8H77-M PRO

Only $10 dollars in it...ill stick to the parent company this time round....but i am tempted by this:ASRock Z77 Extreme4-M

For an extra $23 over the Asus i mentioned... but i just cant see myself using some of those extras. I the gold caps sound nice! yet they all have 3 year warranty. WIt the extreme4-m you shouldnt really need a sound card with 7.1 and THX, seems like it would be good as it is all built in.

yeh, if it hasn't got the letter 'Z', or the letter 'P' preceding the numbers, anything with an 'H' is pretty well useless for all intents and purposes.
I really like the Asrock Extremes, and the Fatal1ty Professionals - you won't get a board to match them dollar for dollar - similar feature sets will cost you up to $100 more - often, the price difference far exceeds that.
they are exceptional value for money
