So here's the problem. I am now left with only one comp. That being a crap Acer Aspire. I'd like to upgrade the Gpu from it's current Nvidia Geforce 315, if possible.
It can play BF3 if there's no one else on the map, which sort of defeats the purpose in playing it. Are there any upgrade paths possible from this card? The card needs to be half height, but also the back plate is half height as well. Most of the half height cards I've seen on the web have full size back plates which wont fit in this machine. I don't know much about GPU's so any advice would be appreciated. -------------------- I find television very educating. go the GT210 1GB card. that should be able to run it at low/medium settings with a few people around. but you're not gonna get more performance than that.

gt210 is nasty
not sure about the store but it has a 6670 lp which would be about as fast as you can get http://www.globalgroup.com.au/gloshop/cust...05265fe13cc3a8b its a little expensive by comparison to other 6670 at $67 Asus 6570 1GB $59 is a better value option but you will be running bf3 at ~1024x768 on it but the rest of your system is probably not up to the job what cpu ram psu do you have? bf3 mp really needs a quad core or a very fast dual preferably with ht This post has been edited by Dasa: Jul 18 2012, 06:13 PM -------------------- 2600k@4.8GHz 1.38v - Z77-GENE - 2x4g 1600 8-9-8 - 7970 1150\7000MHz 1.15v - OCZ Synapse 120g Seagate 2tb - Seasonic XP1000 - Dell U2711 - Pioneer Todoroki 5.1

And if you do want a new card, I have a boxed, unused and still under warranty 6770 1GB I could sell you. gt210 is nasty Oh? what makes you say that? i've been selling them for a while and never had any problems. :S mostly just there age/performance... fairly sure there a bit slower than the 510 610 and they are beaten by intel igp http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/graphics/...0_11.html#sect0 This post has been edited by Dasa: Jul 18 2012, 08:17 PM -------------------- 2600k@4.8GHz 1.38v - Z77-GENE - 2x4g 1600 8-9-8 - 7970 1150\7000MHz 1.15v - OCZ Synapse 120g Seagate 2tb - Seasonic XP1000 - Dell U2711 - Pioneer Todoroki 5.1

HIS Radeon HD6570 1GB Silence
I've played BF3 on a laptop with a GPU a little slower than that. Like the others have said however, will also depend on your CPU, and also your memory -------------------- "If the forums were just Opy talking about World of Tanks, I'd... okay, maybe not." - hawkeye

Another option might be a pci-e riser and a cheap normal card?
I've seen it done before anyway, at worst it might cost you 5% performance, but should be close to 100% normal speed. Else, dremel a hole in your case and buy a decent card too? A few alternatives for you :) -------------------- i7 2600k | Z68A-GD80 | 8GB RAM | HD7970 | 120GB SSD | 1kW PSU | Butchered Case | Water Cooling | U2713H

I should have put a bit more info in the OP. It's a Core i3 540 with 4 gig of ram. All in all it's not a bad little comp. Wish I could steal it and put it in the lounge room, but, alas, she would again kill me :) I like the HD6570, for a temporary solution till I save the dosh up for a new machine. -------------------- I find television very educating. dont supose that mb gives you any overclocking options as my i3 540 was able to do 4.5ghz hapily so if there is any settings for upping the bus speed you may be able to get a bit more out of it
with the 6570 some cards like the asus have 1800mhz memory vs 1600mhz just somthing to look out for if its the same price every little bit helps -------------------- 2600k@4.8GHz 1.38v - Z77-GENE - 2x4g 1600 8-9-8 - 7970 1150\7000MHz 1.15v - OCZ Synapse 120g Seagate 2tb - Seasonic XP1000 - Dell U2711 - Pioneer Todoroki 5.1
