after a further play around, I managed to wring a few extra Mhz out the CPU - upping the BCLK gives some strange results, it appears that 102 is the sweet spot, 103 was actually significantly slower, 104 produced a BSOD running 3DMark 11, 102.2 caused it to just seize up running 3DMark.....102 and all is well

i think i just experienced a similar bug to you in heaven but i know tessellation was working
score 2470 fps 98.1 with one 7970 at 1210\1846

pc locked up 2sec after saving the result...

thats very strange. I might try doing 4-5 consecutive heaven runs on the weekend or something and see if it does happen to one of the results.

did you find you had to alter anything else, or just the BCLK? I've tried changing mine to 100.5/101/102 etc. and it doesn't boot at anything but 100.00. :(
nice score mate, good to see more contributions. i think you'll find there is limited gain from overclocking the 2500k though. My 3dMark11 score only increased by about 500 points going from 4.6 to 5.2.

yeh, I was actually quite surprised when my comp booted and loaded windows with a BCLK of 104 - pity it wasn't stable. my first 2500K didn't like you touching the BCLK at all - like yours
I've been getting better results than what you quote - just the small jump in overclock cited here produced more than that.....
from my experience with 2x 2500K's, they seem to vary quite a bit in overclocking headroom - BCLK, multiplier and voltages required all differ quite a bit - still, they're a tasty piece of kit, without a doubt the best bang for buck Intel's ever produced.....I'd even go so far as to say the best bang for buck ever produced.

thanks for that mate. looks like i just have a cpu that doesn't like BCLK change. I suppose i will forgive it, given its a decent overclocker anyway.

I should have rephrased that as to limited gain in 3dmark 11. From your 4.8 to 4.9ghz results, your 3dmark11 score only went up 60 points, so hypothetically with a 300-400mhz increase in CPU clock speed, score would only improve by another 300ish points at most. I agree they are most certainly a great value piece of kit, up to 5.2ghz+ stable quad core for ~$215 - with warranty and an overclocking replacement plan.

3DMark 11 is just brutal, it'll be a long time before we see 'decent' looking scores and larger gains - at the moment every point is a battle

This gets updated every now and again, considering one person is maintaining it it's not suh a big problem, just wait, it will be updated soon :).

Benchmarking was popular a few years back, but it doesn't seem to be as popular any more. Take the competition i ran before christmas with 3DMark 2001SE. 2 entries for a 3 week competition....Needless to say those two entreis came in the top 2 :P

Thanks Morgoth I managed to nail top spot on OCAU single card too.. for now...
My 2600k does 5.0 easy but because my RAM only does 1600 @ 5.0, scores are actually 50-100 points lower than the above. :/
Might need to really push it if when someone beats this.

ive found with mine u to see any real world gain going past 4.6 u also need 1600mhz ram, im running the 1333 cas7 F3 X ripjaws and going past 4.6, even upto 5ghz i see less than 200 points difference, but uping the ram to 1600 and beyond then i see a noticeable difference, my single 3dmark11 single GTX460 score didnt break 4k unless i had cpu at 4.6 and ram at 1600. when i ran 5ghz and 1333 i only got 3990 or 4005 (with gpus at default clocks). I found across multiple benchmarks that 4.6, ram 1600/cas8, and gpu at peak OC that there was a clear sweet spot for performance. I also found 4.8, and 1600 gave less score and a drop in fps over all. the 4455 3dmark single gpu score i managed has since been beaten by a score of 4502 but i forgot to post the link here and lost it. :(

If ur running 1866 or 2k+ ram i feel that's the only time u will benefit from going beyond 4.6 especially if ur running previous gen gpus that depend a lot more on the cpu.

yeh, I'll try and get around to it, p0is0n - i don't really like/want to start pulling my comp apart, tho........
were you looking at overclocked? I never really pushed it (like didn't get to artifacting, so I'm assuming that I can go higher :) ) do you want me to?
the Asus variation of the GTX560, with the fancy schmancy cooling are great little cards, i'm glad that I didn't get another ATI/AMD card, or fork out the extra for a couple of GTX560Ti's
