Hey guys, my bro called me up to ask why he cannot delete files on an external HDD that is formatted to NTFS on his Mac computer.
He came to my place on the weekend and grabbed a bunch of files from me. Took them home, whatever, and when trying to delete them, using his Mac he couldn't, and wants to know why? I don;t have or use a Mac, so I couldn't help him. Now he says his only option is to format the drive, which means he loses everything. I told him to hang on until I find out of there is something he can do, change, that will allow him to use the external drive how he wants. Any ideas? Cheers. |

OS X can't write (that is, make changes) to NTFS partitions, it can only read.
Here's a quick guide to enabling NTFS writing on OS X Lion, without paying for something like Paragon's NTFS for Mac. -------------------- It's running with a smile, it's better than the last time that I tried...

I have found Paragon's offering to be pretty good.
Other than that, boot camp or Parallels/ VMware Fusion can also offer an alternative.
