if its for gaming save $150 and get the 3570k but if you will be doing work that makes use of 8 threads go for it
120g ssd with a slow hdd seems way to small to me for games
psu i would look at something much better like corsair ax \seasonic x ~750w if you wish to get a second 7970

cooling?

Yeah I probably wont make use of all 8 threads so good idea, thanks.

Hmm, do you think I should save the $150 and buy a bigger SSD, aka Sandisk's 480gig??

Will take note of that and look into it more and thanks for reminding me about cooling, I was thinking the corsair h100, and seeing as my case is big it'd fit quite snuggly. Again, Im open to suggestions

with 120g dedicated to games no os i was constantly swapping games
id say most people could make do with a neat os and games on a 480g ssd with minimal swapping

I probably wouldn't bother waiting for the GE edition 7970 cards, it looks like nothing more than new firmware for the existing cards. Save the money and overclock it yourself.

Apart from that what Dasa said.

CPU: 3570k like Dasa said would be fine Im sure.
RAM: If getting Ripjaws, there are many versions. There is the 9-9-9-24, 8-8-8-24, and 7-8-8-8-24 just so you know. If looking to save money you could get 2 x 4gb now and another 8gb later maybe. I just ordered some Mushkin Redline 1600 at 7-7-7-24 2 x4gb but its not here yet and never used them before.
Graphics: Id get either HD 7970 or GTX 670 depending on the games you play most and the res you will be playing at. AMD seems better at higher res.
SSD: You could maybe do a small 60gb for cache drive. Either go big or small!
Cooling: This is a "cool' site: http://www.frostytech.com/articleview.cfm?...2665&page=7 If you were wondering as to how the H100 performed, it does quite well.

Looks like a good build man!

Yeah I'm going to get the 3570k, and im aiming for the 8-8-8-24. Graphics wise, im still thinking about it, im looking at the msi lightning 7970 but im still curious to see what custom 7970 GE get brought out. I thought of the the gtx 670 and even the 680 but the gtx 680 is redundant in my eyes and the the gtx 670 is a great card but i wanna have some fun OCing and the 7970 is better in OCing and just more powerful in general. Thanks dude means alot =)

On a side note im looking at at coolmaster HAF and the Bitfenix Collosus for different cases, dunno if i should get either of them or stick with mine and for the PSU i was just thinking to get the Antec High Current Pro 750W Power Supply any thoughts? And can anyone recommend any screens??

Here is a review of the 7970 GE for BF3: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon...ark,3232-8.html

Matches the GTX 680 nicely and in 2560x1600 it pull ahead. So I think waiting for 7970 GE is a good idea.

And do you really need 16GB RAM?

I can backup the previous comments 120gb SSD isn't enough, when most games these days demand 15-20gb minimum.
Then every app wants to write files to My Documents too, this takes up another few GB sometimes. With my OS on there as well, I can only install a few games at a time, which is disappointing. I am considering a 1TB black for my games when I next have cash to blow, until then I am constantly re-installing things, which can be a pain sometimes because I don't have an optical drive in my machine.

You could probably get a 60GB OCZ Agility3 for $60 or 120GB for $100 and a 1TB WD Black for ~$105-110 which would give you a snappy OS and maybe a few games with lots of loading on the SSD, and another drive for any other games/applications and would only add about $10 to the total cost. It depends on how many applications you have installed at any time.

If you're looking to cut costs, you could drop the blu ray drive for a dvd drive, unless you would use it, then by all means keep it.

The phanton case only comes with 2x 120mm fans so you might want to grab a few extras. It supports 120 or 140mm so I'd grab 140s as they are a bit quieter and move more air IMO, although there is more choice of 120mms.

Lastly, and this is just because I have a strong dislike for all things Thermaltake, I would switch the power supply to something like an Antec HCG 750W which costs about the same and is also bronze, or a Silverstone Strider 750W which costs a little more but is rated silver. This is really just down to preference though.

The rest looks good.

Yeah I am getting a 240 gig SSD with a 2tb harddrive so I think that would suffice for now. Don't really need to cut costs so I don't really mind about the Optical Drive. And yeah I was planning on getting a couple more fans so thanks Ill definitely get the 140mm and weirdly enough of only heard anything but good about the Thermaltake PSU haha but yeah I guess it all comes down to personal preference =)

Thanks man!

My dislike for Thermaltake is a personal thing, going back to the Athlon/P4 days when everything they made was bright orange and had THERMALTAKE written all over it, wherever it would fit. If it wasn't orange, it was still hideous and poorly designed/concieved like the Xaser chassis or Orb coolers come to mind.

They have dialled it back a bit recently, and may produce the occasional decent product, but they come across way too yum cha for me usually. If that PSU has solid reviews, don't let my warped opinion change your mind.

Whats a 7970 GE cost these days? like $520? you should buy two 7950's for $600, don't worry I won't tell you to buy a GTX670 but it seems logical to me to pay a little more and get a whole lot more graphics horsepower, you could even overclock them to increase the gap.

maybe swap to a corsair TX 750 V2 for the 5 year warranty but the TX series are not as good as the HX and AX series.

Lol nah man fair call, I agree with you, but I am going to have to see in 2 weeks time if they have it in stock for that price, and yeah I'd be OCing them if I did get them. I've heard good things about the CORSAIR HX V2 GOLD 750w so I might see how much they are. I'm also looking at maybe getting gtx 660ti's, if they were at the $299 and the 7950s weren't I'd get them.

Yeah if you can get it for $600, it would be a better buy for the HD 7950's or GTX 660 ti's over the single HD 7970. The HD 7950's in xfire seem to be faster by a good bit in higher res.
