Is there such a thing as a VGA splitter that allows the monitors to be detected and used properly?

No; same resolutions. Just wondering if you use two of the same model monitors if they can be detected as the right model and if you will have a choice of only all supported resolutions.

If going over long distances (5-10m+) then you're better off using a splitter with a signal amp... rather than just a Y-adapter...
Signal loss of VGA can have some pretty ugly effects. http://search.jaycar.com.au/search?w=vga%2...r&view=list If you're going distances more than 15m, you need to consider a balun instead... or a Y-adapter and a balun... http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AC1671 Cheers. -------------------- afk

Yeah true, the Y splitters are only good for short distances.
