I can't speak for anyone else but I find their Meece to be uncomfortable and their keyboards to be underwhelming and I have tried the; Arctosa, Lycosa, Death Adder, Naga and Lachesis. I spent a few weeks with a Lycosa and Death Adder combo and it just did not do it for me. Different strokes I guess or possibly I'm just so used to Logitech after years of use that anything else feels strange. I can identify with that Reaper. Not everything is everyones cup of tea. Never used Logitech "Meece" myself, although I have used a few of its keyboards in my time (their arent bad but then again I am not picky about my keyboards). I will say it here and now, no offence to Hawkeye, or DH, that as much as I enjoy reading his reviews, I dont exactly agree with his conclusions with regards to "Meece", particularly his reviews on keyboards. He seems to prefer the mechanically actuated ones (correct me if I am wrong here David). I am at home with both types and I can type on both just as well, and it holds true for gaming too. -------------------- Intel Core i7 3930K, Gigabyte x79-UD5, 16GB Corsair Vengence RAM, EVGA 670GTX, 256GB OCZ Vertex 4 SSD, 3 x 1TB Hitachi HDD, LG BD-DVD Optical Drive, Corsair TX 750 PSU, CoolerMaster Hyper 412s HSF, CoolerMaster Cosmos II Tower.

I do agree thou that some of their KB's have been a lil bit fail, (lets put gloss black plastic on a KB! or humm use a KB for 2 months and the key covers wear off!) I myself use a LogiSHITE G110 atm. Look this is like the whole Intel v's AMD, Nvidia v's ATI thingy, as long as you find a mouse you like to use and are happy with then that's all that matters... So it seems I have particularly bad luck with mice as of late.
So a mate bought me a new mouse [he's such a great guy ;-) ] which was the Gigabyte Aivia. Was actually quite a nice mouse, some nice features. After a month or two, the scroll wheel completely died in it. Returned it, and got a Cyborg R.A.T 9 instead. So I will start out by saying, that when this mouse works, it is truly a fantastic mouse! The ergonomic features may seem a bit gimmicky, but it certainly was very nice to use. Again, after a month or two, things just started to get a little iffy. The first thing is the Phillips Twin-eye sensor, which is very fussy with what surface it works on. There were times that the mouse would also just completely stop responding, the only way to get it back again was to unplug and replug the mouse from the USB port. However the most frustrating thing is that this device has the absolute WORST debouncing of any device I have ever used. I don't know if it is faulty, or just lazy hardware or softrware design, but I was constantly getting double clicks when I was only clicking once. The scroll wheel button was the worst [and noticeable the most as I use it to open links in a new browser tab], where suddenly I would have 5 tabs open up from the one click on a link. Well, this morning it seems the optical sensor has given up the ghost completely, no movement at all is being registered. I thought maybe a software update had muddled something up, but even on other computers [windows and linux], still no go. The buttons, however, do still work. So it is definitely just the sensor. For the third time, I have dragged my 7 year old Microsoft Optical Mouse 2.0 out of the draw [which only needs to have it's batteries swapped about twice a year, but I digress]. It's quite a solid product. So, as much as this sounds like a bit of a rant about my very much love/hate relationship with this mouse, I guess I am wanting to know if anyone else has had similar experiences with any of the RAT mice? Should I have it replaced with another RAT9? It seems that my trusty MS mouse is highlighting how much I am getting burned by bells and whistles. Is there a good mouse which is just a good mouse? Nothing fancy, just reliable with good dpi and a nice feel? I seem to recall one of the issues the last month or two running a comparison of mice. I'll go have a rummage through that and see what I can find. |

I bought a Razer Mamba 2012 mouse from EB Games about two weeks ago. I read every current review that I could find and in over load confused myself into oblivion. So my decision instead would be based on my playing style, Crab fingers vs twitching psyco and a budget controlled by the rhetorical cold starring non-gamer wife.
EB Games had a massive sale on and I picked up the Razer Mamba for $125, so for the last sessions of gaming my learning curve of 6200DPI has pushed me to new found limits. No mech of tech issues and plays great on either wireless or corded. Now I feel like a reborn noob on my well worn games, would I recommend the Mamba, give me a few months of button smashing and the mouse will tell me if it's had enough! -------------------- oF aLl ThE ThInGs i HaVe lOsT i MiSs mY MiNd ThE MoSt!

I couldn't use 6200DPI! Way too sensitive for me. Typically 2000-3000 is my sweet spot.
Decent price on the Mamba, much cheaper than on RazerStore or many other retailers I've looked at. Im using a razer naga atm cause im playing Guild Wars 2 and I find the extra buttons helpful because the combat is more mobile than other MMO's and find it very annoying to have to wrench my hand across my keybausrd to get my other 5 skills. My dream mouse is the steelseries sensei though, would kill for one.
Funny thing with DPI though, it should really be set to the max no matter what, the higher your DPI the more accurate your mouse which is a must in any shooter..sure this does make it extremily sensitive but that is when you change the sensitivity in your control panel and ingame. Sensitivity and DPI are two different thing and I find it funny how developers give you the choice over it when it really should stay at max. You want max precision through your dpi and change the sensitvity through the control panel and ingame. In CS:Source I have my DPI set to the max on my mouse and my senstivity is set to the lowest in game, if thats still to high for people with crazy 6000+ dpi mouses then you can activate the console in the options and change it to 0.9. Just remember, max dpi low sensitivy. Two different things that every one get tricked into by the developers. -------------------- Taps on Microphone*

I took on board what you wrote regarding the high DPI setting and lowering the sensitivity of the mouse. Works great, a little jumpy at the beginning of play but that's overcome quickly. Make sure the windows setting for sensitivity is at 5 or 6.

I just picked up a Corair M90. Loving it! The side buttons are a little stiff, but I'm getting used to it. I love the wheel, and its so much smoother than my previous mouse (Mionix Naos 5000). Just got to get used to all the extra buttons.

The Corair M90 was my first choice to buy, but the EB Games special was to good an offer. If they stocked the Corair I would have bought it.
One criticism of all corded mice is that there is only one cord in the box and its far too long. My Razor Mamba is wireless until it goes flat then its corded/charging and so a meter long cord is looped all over my desk. A 300mil cord would be brilliant being a laptop gamer, (Remote & consistently relocating occupation). -------------------- oF aLl ThE ThInGs i HaVe lOsT i MiSs mY MiNd ThE MoSt!

I added yet another mouse to my collection a couple days ago. Since I've been playing a bit of Guild Wars 2, I thought I could try the Razer Naga 2012 mouse.
First thing I noticed was that it is pretty much my PERFECT size mouse. The way my hand wraps over it, it feels like this mouse was made for me. My hand is smallish and I like to claw my mice. My palm does rest slightly on the back, but I mostly use my fingers to control it while my hand pivots from the wrist. When I need fine control, my pinky will anchor down on the mat and the rest of my fingers will squeeze the mouse to where it needs to be. The mouse comes with 3 interchangeable side bits that change the way you grab onto the mouse with your ring finger and pinky. I prefer the middle sized one of the 3 as it lets my pinky touch the mat just enough while maneuvering. I still cannot believe how perfectly it fits me! The Naga is a little bit heavier than my Imperator, but that's to be expected since it has a lot more buttons. But, I still wish it could have been lighter. I find it taxing having to lift the mouse a lot when I'm cranking the games. Though, overall, it's much better than what a wireless mouse would weigh so that's a good thing. The top of the mouse is made of a really nice, (seemingly) dirt repellent material. It's rougher (and better) than my Imperator. I really can't remember back to my Deathadder or Mamba to know if it was similar to those unfortunately. All I know is, as soon as I touched it, it felt new and nicer to me. The Naga I got has 12 thumb buttons. These represent the top number row of your keyboard (1 thru to =), or your numeric pad depending on the selector switch on the bottom. Unfortunately for my smallish thumb, I can only ever (fairly) easily reach 9 of the 12 buttons. Remembering where they are really takes a lot of getting used to in my experience. I've played for about 12hrs now and I can only really instinctively remember what 5 of the buttons do. In saying that though, even if I were to only ever use 5 buttons, this would improve my gaming for sure.....once I get used to avoiding the regular keyboard shortcuts. Razer provide sticky rubber things that you can stick to any of the buttons to help you train up to using them. They are coming in handy :P I tried the Naga with Guild Wars 2 (obviously) and it really does help to not have to look for the right key to press, or focus on the selection bar on screen as it is beneficial to be able to pay attention to the action so you know when to trigger abilities, or dodge. Instead, I now can concentrate on running around, kiting enemies, while shuffling through different attacks with my thumb. I can also bind keys to open my map, talk on vent, target next enemy etc.... I also tried playing BF3 with this mouse. Unfortunately, I still prefer my Imperator for that type of game. I found that because of the extra buttons, I can't grab onto the mouse as tight as I would like without pressing a button so I would tend to play extra relaxed which meant I wasn't as accurate ingame. It's a shame because I could really do with all those buttons. I had them bound to Grenade, Toggle Primary Weapon, Reload, Knife, Gadget 1 and 2 plus more that I can't remember cos there's so many..... So in conclusion, I could recommend this mouse not only for less frantic games, but also just as a regular windows mouse. The extra buttons will come in handy to assign macros to for some people. I'll be binding select all, copy, cut, paste to it soon.

I'm still using my old Logitech MX1000 from 2003.
Probably the best mouse for me ever, that and any device with a rechargeable batter that still holds it's charge for a week or more and is over 10 years old is pretty damn good. I've always had a Logitech keyboard, going back to the old media keyboards that came out to the G19 I'm typing on now. -------------------- 如诸佛尽寿不杀生, 我亦尽寿不杀生

I agree on the Naga 2012. I won one not too long ago, and honestly gave it a try. I ended up going back to my Taipan though. I found that I was quicker using the number keys on the keyboard and it was taking quite a bit of effort to force myself to use the mouse buttons.
Didn't so much suit my fingertip grip either, since to push buttons on one side, it moved the mouse since nothing was anchoring it in place. Probably more suited to a palm/claw gripper. That, and I didn't use it with any MMORPGs, so I guess they weren't kidding when they call it an MMO mouse. -------------------- PC: Intel i5 2500K @4.5GHz | 8GB Corsair Vengeance LP RAM | 2x MSI GTX560 Ti Hawk in SLI | MSI P67A-GD65 | 120GB Intel 520 SSD+3TB of HDDs | Silverstone Fortress FT-02 | Dell U2711 + Dell U2311H
