Considering the bad rep that GameDude has on this site, how effective do you think this advertising campaign will be?

it's advertising money for Atomic, who are we to complain?
to tell you the truth, I've never had an issue with Gamedude, but then again, I haven't had to return anything there either. -------------------- Put your monkey where your mouth is.

Gamedude dont have a bad rep. Their SERVICE department (refunds especially) have the bad rep. they're still known as the top 3 stores in Brisbane area. MSY, UMART, GAMEDUDE.
I personally dislike them because of their service, but people dont pay for service. MSY proves that. lol -------------------- Wherever you go in life, watch out for Scythe, the tackling IT support guy.

So hang on - What was the legal threat brought against Atomic back then?
I remember legal action being threatened - Was it due to the defamatory remarks against Gamedude? Wasnt just us - Massive changes happened over PCPP as well iirc -------------------- "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind" - Dr. Seuss

I thought the issue was the other way around, Gamedude used a user to promote the business against the terms and conditions of the site (whether it was intentional or not)

I thought the issue was the other way around, Gamedude used a user to promote the business against the terms and conditions of the site (whether it was intentional or not) Negative. People were complaining about how shithouse Gamedude was with customer service in general, and she came in and threatened all and sundry with legal action. Websites without any understanding or testicles about how such things could (and couldn't) be dealt with proceeded to censor their users from discussing the bad service they've received from that (or any other) company. Things have obviously relaxed a lot since then, but it was absolutely disgraceful that users were unable to share their tales of woe with other users who were in the exact same market, potentially allowing further customers to be subjected to the shoddy service on offer. -------------------- "To be is to do" - Socrates

smadge1: That came first I believe (The original reason Kath signed up) and Atomic handled that in its usually cool and calm manner and asked her to stop, which she did then hung around
iirc, I believe Kathleen took it upon herself to represent Gamedude and caused all the shit - What bugged me was I never heard an offical statement from Gamedude about their opinions on what went down - We just saw massive changes happening everywhere They seemed to inclined to just sit back and let shit happen and fall around the place in their name and do nothing about it - Unless I am greatly mistaken, this is my problem with Gamedude and how they conduct and present themselves -------------------- "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind" - Dr. Seuss

It was less the chip on her shoulder about dealing/abusing customers - hell, the shit she carried on with paled in comparison to the shit i'd dish out to customers.
But the key difference was i ensured that the customer was well looked after if they were in the right. I distinctly recall her abusing people who were upset that they were unable to get anyone on the phone or replies to their emails over late orders or items that were supposedly in stock on the site that went to back ordered once the order was placed, and she'd essentially tell them stiff shit. iirc, i think she made comments to the effect that they were too busy with customers in store to bother dealing with people who are calling/emailing. It was shit like that, a general disregard for all customers - not just the dickheads - that pissed a lot of people off. The fact that gamedude did nothing to distance themselves from her actions did nothing to help them with their shoddy rep. -------------------- "To be is to do" - Socrates

With all due respect to Kathleen that's why she quit Gamedude, she got sick of the rep they had and she was constantly fielding shit for them and always ended up being the one in the firing line. Sometimes she brought it upon herself, but a lot of the time it was completely unwarranted.

I buy stuff from Gamedude.
Yes, their customer service isn't optimal, but they're cheap, so I see it as a balance. Lots of other companies make similar tradeoffs. -------------------- You can have my lettuce when you pry it out of my cold wet salad.

bullshit dude - 90% of it was warranted by her dickhead behaviour.
After that episode people still gave her shit for the way she'd carry on and abuse people over any disagreement. -------------------- "To be is to do" - Socrates
