Just curious why your only going for shitty level 1-2 helpdesk jobs, when you've got a sys admin diploma now?
I've spent about 15 days at TAFE, didn't work for me, but you don't need any qualifications to do those jobs. I did level 1-2 support, onsite support, phone support, and then Desktop support. I would honestly rather blow my brains out than go back to a job like that. Maybe I've just had bad experiences but we were overworked, underpaid, under appreciated, treated like shit and blamed for everything that went wrong. Why aren't you looking at junior sys admin positions instead, where you are taking less shit all day? Edit: oops just realised you already got a job now, congrats mate hope it works out well for you, and is better than my experience has been. I actually havent finished the diploma yet as stated I am still studying. The job so far has been fantastic, I am just thankful to be in an IT environment after 8 years of sales both retail and tele, it's beyond awesome to be working around what I love (technology and computers). The people in the office are awesome- really cool geek culture! Whilst the pay isn't awesome, the job is and after I gain some experience and actually complete my diploma I am sure there will be better money out there for me. For now this level 1-2 Help Desk role is fantastic. nice to hear everythings going ok :D. may i ask, when are you finishing the diploma? and are you gonna stay in your position for a little while after or go straight into something heavier? seems like you're in a good position now, that's all. :)

I am happy to stay with this company for as long as I need because theyre great to work and it would add up to some fantastic industry experience for me. If possible I would even like to move up within the company. As I said previously one thing I have discovered is industry experience is sometimes valued more then your actually qualification so having my foot in the door now with a fantastic work environment and great people gives me no reason to look elsewhere at the moment. -------------------- FX-4100 @ 4.4Ghz Vcore 1.45v CPUNB 1.2575v [Hyper 212 Evo] () 4GB 2x2 DDRIII OCZ Gold 1333 @1466Mhz 1.52v () GA 78LMT-S2P 760G NB @ 2.2Ghz NB-1.2v SB-1.3v () 1TB Samsung HDD () PowerColor ATi 5970 2GB () Sharkoon T28 [Green] () ThermalTake TR2 800w () 6hrs Prime95 stable & Intel BurnTest passed. I understand that completely. I've gotten everywhere i have now, with experience alone. (4yrs now) and now im concidering getting those extra qualifications just so i can get that extra step. You can succeed with only one of them. But it does help with both :P. |

You will only find junoir sysadmin roles in little business's where you are just Desktop and a jack of all trades anyway. -------------------- 3930K || ANTEC KUHLER 920|| ASUS Rampage IV ||16GB Corsair Vengence DDR3@1877mhz||ATI 7970||120GB Vertex 3 MAX IOPS||4x3tb||DELL2711||Corsair 650D|| ASUS Essence STX ||Audio Engine A2's||Aiaiai:TMA-1||Enermax 1050w||

lol. All good, yeah that would be my final dream, some uni qualification to justify all my experience, I'm trying to get something called "recognition of prior learning/skills" through C.I.T apparently i can get a Cert III or IV without studying, but still have to pay full costs of the course+lessons. So just saving after that.
