If it was from that UK source, so be it.
If it was from our people, what the hell was that? Despite several conflicting experiences with your results, a few things were skipped too. The biggest gripe for me is the great C12P cooler which ive been jumping around the i7 overclocking scene and waving my arms about excitedly. I use one, its amazing. The U12P was tested, so you clearly had the bracket available to you, why was the C12P not clamped down and tested too? I would have finally had something easily referenced to prove its quality, shame. If it was an ATOMIC article, I feel a few things were missing, like thermal paste info, how many times you tested each heatsink etc. If it was imported, then so be it, i'll live. -------------------- Wherever you go in life, watch out for Scythe, the tackling IT support guy.

It wasn't mine/atomic, it was an 'import'.

If it was an ATOMIC article, I feel a few things were missing, like thermal paste info, how many times you tested each heatsink etc. If it was imported, then so be it, i'll live. What?! If it was published in Atomic, then it's an Atomic article, and should meet Atomic's quality standards, surely? Please tell me that we as readers aren't just going to blithely accept lowered standards on imported content. I certainly know some of you aren't :)
In regards to conflicting experiences, I daresay you'd get that with even our testing. Even when you're dead careful about getting reliable results, it doesn't mean that what you get will be 100 per cent reproducible. But yeah... it is an import. That said, I can easily contact the editor to get that info (testing times, paste details etc). -------------------- aka David Hollingworth, Editor, AtomicMPC

i guess i now know why that in Kit Log the "Performance" machine is still listed with the Scythe Mugen 2.
i was very confused when the article scored CoolerMaster V8 higher ("several degrees lower") and got the "Atomic Aprproved" basically it freaked me out because i'm trying to save up for a new machine but keep reading different things. can anybody recommend the Scythe Mugen 2 vs CoolerMaster V8? i havent been able to find a website that did a direct comparison as yet... You probably should yes, but I think you will find that kitlog does lag a little behind the reviews in that regards.
I'm sure the guys will change it. |

It also has the OCZ Gladiator Max in the table, but then doesn't review it.
AND the Titan TTC-NK85TZ (aka Fenrir) is mentioned twice (in the Mugen 2 and the TRUE segments), but that isn't reviewed either (I'm not even sure if it's coming to Australia). And I kind of wish the Prolimatech Megahalems was reviewed as well, because it's supposedly better than the TRUE. And while I'm at it I wish I had lots of stuff for free ;) Otherwise very helpful! -------------------- There are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand binary, and those that don't.

also, the V8 got the recommended award, and correct me if im wrong, but got a negative review a couple of articles back.
am i right? at the least when adding an article make sure it doesnt conflict with previous ones. Mag is still great, you guys dont require non stop attacks, but this one just irked me being a huge cooloing nut. -------------------- Wherever you go in life, watch out for Scythe, the tackling IT support guy.

We did the V10, but I can't remember if we did the V8. It all blurs into one, big, confusing review after a while in this job!

Speaking of 'imported' articles, it seems the F@H one was an import too.
Read the article in the mag the other night and just came across this http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/...oes-it-matter/1 I haven't got the mag in front of me to check but the wording from memory looks exactly the same. I was wondering why the mag article didn't mention the atomic folding team or have any witty wording. It's a bit unfortunate paying for content in a mag I can get for free on the net. :( -------------------- Desktop: i7 950 @ 4.2GHz | HD6990 @ 1GHz | 6GB RAM | 120GB + 250GB SSDs | 2x 2TB HDD in RAID1

I don't see why Atomic puts ITS recommended on imports. Like, we know about Pommy hygiene standards, so what is there heatsink testing like? ; ) (Thought I'd better put that in, lest I lose my Hero status.) |
