Ok so for about the last 2 weeks now i have been having problems with my wifi dropping out or not connecting at all no matter how close i am to the modem at the time, have reset the modem rebooted and still same problems even using ethernet i have connection drop outs. currently using a netgear DG834G v3 so im using a really old thing its served me well but no need to try fix it and use it again im just going to buy a brand new one.
i have been looking at a few but im still not 100% sure on what one to get, in the house we have 4 laptops, 3desktops, 2 media players, xbox all using the net through the modem all 4 ethernet ports are used up. the 2 i have been looking are the Billion 7800N and ASUS RT-N56U, open to suggestions on what one will be best for me. thanks for all the help i get on this. -------------------- big rig : (out of order)

I have a 7800N and it's been great. Before I had to be on a high stability DSL profile for the connection to not drop out, now I use the fastest profile and it never drops out and it's much faster. Haven't used wireless much but I'm sure it will be fine; it was on an older Billion router I used.

I have had the 7800N and it was excellent and I had no issues with it. Will you be using Voip in the future if so go for the Netgear N600 WNDR3700. Its also excellent and support DNLA and network storage via USB. I own both these modem routers and so far i am happy with both. Depends on if your going to use Voip or not thats all. In my experience a VoIP phone is better than a VoIP router but I have only tried Billion VoIP routers.

Well I am happy with my 7800N, but I hardly use the wireless side of it. Got it because of the gigabit ethernet as I do a lot of LAN file transfers.
Some people have been having issues with the 7800Ns wireless carking it fairly quickly so be aware the wireless may be an issue. Be aware the RT-N56U is a router only (no modem) so unless you also buy a modem it is useless to you. Choice will be partly dependent on your ADSL connection. If slow and/or on a long line then stick to Broadcom chipset modems for their stability. If close to the exchange or RIM then any modem with the non Broadcom chipset will sync a bit faster. -------------------- She's going to be really smart, very savvy, haunting good looks, really good at her job. i have seen on cnet with user reviews people have said that so now i am thinking twice about the 7800N just because other people in the house only use wireless, i dont want to fork out the money then in a month need to buy a new wireless router.
i kicked the RT-N56U out of my options when i read into it more and noticed that. well im currently on TPG ADSL2+ unlimited and i think im about 3km's from the exchange. -------------------- big rig : (out of order)

I was mistaken; the reason it was dropping out is that the cable between the modem and the wall was too close to the TV.
