Ah, this old problem. How do you take a photo of your own camera? I'll borrow my other half's point and shoot this evening.

Wow, those are some speedy lenses juse, they must have set you back a fair bit? Yup : p. They're worth it though, and I'm going to get the majority of them back on tax, since I use them for work. The 17-55mm is my usual walk-around lens, and the 70-200mm is my shuffle-around lens ('cos it's big). They don't call him Ol' Moneybags Bicknell for nothing. They don't call me that at all, unfortunately : (. If you don't mind, orinjuse, how much was your 70-200?
Had the D40 for about a week, fired up the P&S to take the first pic and just about cryfased. Never going back. That looks like a relatively dated P&S yeah? The modern ones have very clever Program AE and Autofocus routines, and produce decent results in good light. They do tend to be quite noisy in low light though. E.g. My photo was taken with my wife's new IXUS 80 IS. When you zoom down to 1:1, you can certainly see the noise due to the small sensor, but resized for on-screen viewing, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. You lose the fine control you get with a DSLR, but the pure convenience makes it worth having one around. -------------------- KEN SENT ME

If you don't mind, orinjuse, how much was your 70-200? I got it last year before Nikon bumped up all their prices, and it was about $2450. My 17-55mm was $1450, second hand but more or less as new. -------------------- Love is knowing your partner would not hesitate to put a bullet in your brainpan at the first sign of zombification.
