Ah, the life of a technology journalist... the cutting edge technology, the endless parties, the power... the raw sex appeal. Yes, the life we lead is pretty damn sweet, and guess what?
We want to make one lucky Atomican a Tech Journalist For a Day! We’re offering this opportunity to forum members ranked Journeyman and above. We want dedicated and passionate writers, who have shown their tech resourcefulness time and time again. To enter, all you need to do is prove your writing, benching and reviewing prowess to us, and you could end up with your very own written work showing up in the pages of Atomic! And how can you achieve this wondrous career highlight? Simply answer this question by July 16th 2009 in 100 to 150 words: How do you think motherboard technology will change in the next five years? To be eligible for this competition you will need to email your answer with the following information to dhollingworth@atomicmpc.com.au Name: Address: Phone: Email: After all entries are received, we’ll choose the three best. These three finalists will be sent the latest Asus motherboard and a copy of the Fallout 3 Quest Pack 1. This kit is your prize, as well as the products you will be required to review. Once your kit arrives, you’ll need to scrutinize and test it and then write a review, just like we do, with the same benching and scoring. And then we’ll post it on the site for your peers and Atomic’s Editor, David Hollingworth (that's me!) to judge. And the winner of that final stage will get their work published in the October issue of Atomic, issue no 105, and it will also appear on the Atomic website. Pretty swanky idea!
Correct me if I'm wrong though, but might we be in a bit of a pickle if we don't have a later-model Intel processor and DDR3 as I'm guessing the mobo requires? Rob. -------------------- עם ישראל חי

Unfortunately, since 'terrorist' is not an established part of Atomic's ranking, your unofficial rank has little bearing on the competition.
;) I am sorry, hazzard, but this is a comp we want to run for established community members, many of whom have expressed an interest in writing and reviewing at one stage or another. But we hope to run many more comps like this, so you'll be eligible in the future. -------------------- aka David Hollingworth, Editor, AtomicMPC

Any self-respecting, budding Tech Journo would be knee-deep in the stuff. It's not like it came out last week. This post has been edited by linke: Jul 1 2009, 12:27 PM |

Hey gang, we’ve gone back to Asus with some of the comments here and gotten some updates on the comp!
We went with a high-end motherboard because we know that many people are looking for help in upgrading to Nehalem; the latest Asus mobo would certainly help with that! But, it’s not for everyone, and we’ve secured another option for those either not yet ready to make the upgrade, or not really into motherboards in that detail. For you, we’ll have the latest Asus video card to review instead. So, to recap, you’ll be reviewing either an Asus motherboard or graphics card, plus the Fallout 3 Quest Pack 1. So get entering!!! -------------------- aka David Hollingworth, Editor, AtomicMPC

this sounds like a great idea, will give those who wanted to a chance as well as incentive to write up and review some tech, i personally would like to but am so far behind tech-wise, its not funny, and thus wouldn't really be able to review the subject matter with any thing more than "ooh shiny" and "the packaging is nice", good luck everyone though, again this is a great opportunity, so get in there.

I will probably enter but I already have pretty much everything I need, if I do on the odd chance win a top 3 spot and get sent a board to review can I give it to someone deserving? since I already got a free ASUS P6T a while ago from ASUS.
