Q. Hey, this seems to be a cool thread to spam so I can get my post count up to get into trademart Can I do that?
A.

Trying to spam your way into trademart is pretty much a great way to get banned, not get trademart access. Those who create posts purely for the purposes of increasing their postcount will have their count docked by significantly more than they post, or will just be banned outright. Posting in this thread purely to increase your count over the 128 mark is not a good thing, and will be noticed. While I don't have too many problems with someone who has x thousand posts already making a post to shuffle themselves into position, newcomers who aren't already part of the community need to join in properly in order to enjoy the benefits of trademart. It's not that hard, and can be very rewarding.

Q. Hi, I've been away for a while and had over x hundred posts before I left. Now I can't seem to get into trademart or PM or anything! What's the go?
A.

The user group system has been changed a little. Unfortunately, this change means that the system needs you to make 2 posts to allow it to reshuffle your user group to the correct spot. This is a once-off requirement.
Once you make the first post, you will be a Quark. You can then PM, but still can't access Trademart. Make one more post and Trademart will be fine again too.
Since you can't PM, if you are making posts but things aren't going your way, just use the "Report To Moderator" link on any random post (including this one) and explain your problem. The mods will try to sort it out for you.

Q. I'm only new and can't use the PM system. How come?
A.

When you join atomic, you are given the user group of "Lurker". This lasts for 16 posts. A Lurker can not access the PM system or Trademart. The reason they can not PM anyone is to help cut out PM Spam. To access Trademart, you need to have 128 posts under your belt since Trademart is a community benefit and as such only available to community members.

Q. I'm a Quark. What the hell is that?
A.

A Quark is a subatomic particle. It's got to work it's way up to being atomic. :)
It's also a Star Trek character who bears a striking resemblance, both in looks and in disreputable character, to our lobeless editor, Hawkeye.
You will be assigned to the Quark group between 16 and 128 posts. Quark's can use the PM system, but cannot access Trademart.

Q. I'm a Lurker. Why?
A.

You are a Lurker because you have 0-16 posts. As soon as you make 16 posts, you will automatically be a Quark. Lurkers can not use the PM system or access Trademart.

Q. I can't get into Trademart which means I can't see the FAQ. What can I do?
A.

The trademart FAQ is available for perusal here, for anyone to check out. Read, enjoy and absorb. By you taking the small step of reading the FAQ even before you can get in and post, the world is just that little bit a happier place.

Although I had to recheck, I originally thought it was 100 posts.. Maybe in Atomic 1.0 I guess..

friskybiscuit: I was 100 posts. When post count ranks changes relied on base-10 numbers.
Now ranks change on base-16 hence the 128 post count requirement.
