Was reading before that we as a country are going to spend $8 Billion Dollars on grub 'n' booze during the Christmas season and made me think about what my fellow Atomicans might be feasting and boozing on during the Christmas period?

I shall be enjoy much of this. I don't know if it'll be anywhere near the 8bn mark, but it'll be a lot.

Lol...I agree with that...a few cleansing ales always helps fuel the Christmas spirit!

Food wise I really look forward to nice roast turkeys, hams..etc as I normally don't get to eat them....for me seafood is m e h at Christmas time...nothing wrong with it but I can eat that anytime but nice roasts..etc is a treat for me....

And Trifle & Plum Pudding with brandy sauce/custard is the mutha facking bomba!

So... $375 per head. Every man, woman, rug rat and baby. $375 each.

Bullshit.

*EDIT* Wait. "During the season". The fuck does that mean?

I shall be availing myself of some of the fine offerings in Chinatown, Sydney in the manner of our usual family tradition.

Suckling pig, BBQ duck some seafood perhaps then leaving the cleaning up to the waiters shall be heading off to round 2 a barbecue at a mates place.

You can't go past immigrants from regimes with a strong work ethic and no concept of the idea of "public holidays".

I'd say the whole week of Christmas. Including Christmas parties and dinners with family and lunch with friends and all. So $375 per head isn't that much of a stretch.

I'm on call, I'll be having a couple of beers on my own and that's it. As for food, I'm home alone this year, so maybe a steak.

Most likely, there will be a barbecue or two, so various kinds of steak and sausage will be on offer. There will undoubtably be seafood (it's a fishing family) - whiting and prawns, probably. Salads of course. Being Christmas, and half the family being churchy traditionalists, you can bet on pudding and custard, but it's likely there will be something less stodgy as well - probably pavlova.

Drinks-wise... Beer, of course - lots of it, but I don't even attempt to keep with what brands and styles they're all drinking these days. Some big wine drinkers in the male side, too, so the Christmas/New Year stretch is probably going to see a couple of cases go missing.

Sounds like a lot, but it's really a pretty average load each. There's just a lot of us.

Christmas Day will consist of Turkey, Ham, Pork Schnitzels, Lamb, and all manner of vegetables, for lunch and dinner.
Breakfast is a european continental at my Oma's, usually.

Wine, scotch and beer will be on the menu, and much good coffee.

Especially since a lot of the alcohol and lollies would likely last well after Christmas.

We do steak and lobster on the BBQ generally. I believe the same this year.

Some summer salads too.
