Received my pre-order from JB yesterday (unboxing) and got a nice surprise when they refund me $20 to price match the release price.

I have only played the first three missions of the SP campaign (Hard setting) and I am impressed with the way they have approached it with the interactivity available between missions.

One of my friends found me via the Real ID/Facebook network - I had no idea he was a PC gamer!

My only gripe at the moment is that Achievements have been disabled...

Achievements disabled? Seemed to be working for me last night...

I think it's crap that if you want to play in the SE Asia and ANZ region, you have to pay an extra $26.46

from the battle.net store, digital download:

SE Asia ANZ Region = AUD $89.99
North America = USD $59.99 = AUD $66.53

craptastical :(

I've been getting "Achievements temporarily disabled" messages quite frequently.

Surely though it would make more sense to get the US version anyway. As the SE will be getting access to the US servers soon, if you had friends with the SE version you could just get them to come over. You'd be able to play together, as well as having access to a much larger group of English speaking players. Is there any benefit to getting the SE version?

Buy it locally - $69 from JB or DSE

The ANZ/SEA version will get access to the US server soon enough and it will give you a choice as to where you play.

Have updated the OP

Achievements - alot of people were having issues last night (midnight for me) - it seems they are back but I have not verified.

So any guesstimates on how long the SP campaign will take? Not really interested in online play at this stage.

Just the other day I saw an article about an advertisement for a recent job opening at a McDonald's in Massachusetts that required applicants to have "one to two years experience and a bachelor's degree".

Havent even gotten around to buying my copy yet...

I think 16 hours is probably rushed though.

StarCraft 2 Editor for FPS custom games

Not bad for just mucking around with the editor. Seems to be a very flexible platform.

I believe its 29 missions. Guessing a comfortable play-through would take 20-25 hours.

I'd have to agree 16 hours sounds rushed.

That said, i'm only 4 missions in -- so its a total guess.

I'm pretty sure that if i played on easy i could knock it off pretty quickly, but I'm playing on hard and trying to get all the achievements and complete all optional objectives in ever mission. It's a long time til the net campaign to we have to make it last :P

1) Have to create a damn Battlenet account before I can play.

2) Had to dl a fucking patch before I can play.

3) Still waiting for the fucking account verification email from Battlenet.

For this I paid $100?

Blizzard is now officially in my shitbook.

Oracle X: agree 100%!! so annoying that after i bought the game and installing it i had to register for bnet.

i guess while it was installing, registering wasn't that bad, but i had to wait for the verification email. and by the time the installation was completed the email had still not arrived! I tried to play anyway but obviously it would not let me.

finally email comes about 40-60 mins later and I activate it. then i have to log into bnet to play.

And now my thoughts on SC2:
WTF at the missions?!?!?! is this some sort of overblown tutorial with tidbits of 'story' here and there?

i mean it seems like i'm playing some sort of funky new mass effect without the FPS part.

"go to this planet" collect X amount of resources. mission complete
"go to this planet" escort civilians. mission complete
"go to this planet" steal some gas from the protoss. mission complete
"go to this planet" destroy trains. mission complete.

is this wow grinding? seriously. when am i going to get some missions to amass my army and go kill the enemy base??

i really enjoyed playing through the original SC and have the story play out. Now they've had to expand it across three parts and i think they are just inserting random useless missions to make it 'worth the money'.

not at home so can't remember which mission number i'm up to but so far i'm not that impressed with the gameplay and i certainly hope it picks up the pace at which point i know they'll do some sorta cliffhanger and you have to wait however long to get the next part.

p.s i need to get new hard drives cause my load times are horrendous!!! not that i'm blaming blizz, i know my hard drives need to be replaced. =P

lol yeah, the missions are a little underwhelming. Basically there to showcase the units, one mission per unit and you just have to spam that unit and win. The reward is upgrades and research that should have been available from your building structures anyway.

I find the cut scenes amateurish, stupid country and western music annoys the shit out of me. Story telling is sub standard compared to Brood Wars.

Srsly Blizzard, you can do better than this. Or has your decade of WoW patching muddled your brain with obsessions with upgrades, resource farming and cheezy dialogs?

I've seen some cut scenes and gameplay on youtube and honestly, this game looks crap. It's not one I want to spend $100 on anyhow.

Thats why you spend $69 and quit bitching.

The game is good I feel its kept to its roots. Sure there is a massive tut but alot of people buying this are going to be nubs so its needed.

WTF is wrong with a 40mb patch what are you on dial up?

Account verification is instant check you're junk email folder :)

Wait, what?

$69? WTF where?

Nothing wrong with a patch... a month after the game has been released.

Why the fuck does it need a patch 1 day after? Does that not say "we didn't properly test the game before releasing it even though it's been on beta for a gazillion years"?

Who pays $100 for a game these days?

And how does an old WoW player not have a battle.net account already? :S

You could fairly easily throw a generalisation over most RTS single player campaigns that they give you one unit at a time and teach you the best way to use it in that one mission.

I do agree with the other point though, country music is evil...
