I have a pile of old Athlon 64 gear floating around I am willing to donate to anyone with enough motivation to do something constructive with it.

ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe MB
2x Geforce 6600gt cards (gigabyte passively cooled items)
2x 512Mb Giel ONE ram 1.5,2,2,5

And an Athlon 64 processor. Can't remember the specs, but has these numbers printed on the top.

ADA3200DIK4BI
CBBID 0509CPDW
1219666C50095

Just sitting there collecting dust. Keep thinking I should clean it all up and see if it fires up. But really cant be stuffed.

I'd probably be interested in those, any idea how much shipping to 7321 would be?

Not sure mate. My post code is 4814. Feel free to calculate freight, and if you thinks its worth while I'll box in all up in bubble wrap and send it off. I would expect $30-$50 worse case scenario. I might even be able to organise freight through the company I work for. They have a national account with TOLL/IPEC. I'll hit up the boss on Tuesday.

It would make me smile to know the gear will see a little love. I really don't think I'll ever do anything with it. Just make sure you post up some pics when its running. Oh and be sure to OC the f'k out of it and post some scores. I remember those 6600's were close to top of the atomic charts for 3d mark scores back in the day. Very impressive for passively cooled units. Though I did have an ass load of fans pointing at them lol.

How did you go with your boss. The more I think about it the more I want to see if I can find a pot somewhere and try my hand at ln2 :)

Okay, I have cleaned up the storm block, it's super important to clean them regularly because of the jet impingement design, the jets are easily blocked,
I pulled it apart, washed it and wiped it down, stuck a wire through the jets to make sure they weren't blocked, and used a compressor to make sure.

I did a test Vdimm 3.3V rail mod on my spare mobo.
You basically scrape some of the PCB coating off as I show here as a secondary solder point, then solder to the two end points of the ATX plug like so.

Looks like good fun man, makes me want to fire up my athlon rig and... add a few scores to make yours look better :)
You should dig up an old pond pump+heater core for authenticity.

What's the reasoning behind scraping the mobo when there's a solder point there? Less chance of the leg popping out on you? Less risk of compromising an already good joint?

You're making me want to finish building my watercooled AMD 3000+

Two different contact points for the two wires for no restriction and better amperage capacity.

I forgot to mention, I'll be dunking the radiator in ice at some point :)

Id be interested to see that built of yours !

Okay I tested the spare board and the bios is reading 3.35v vdimm :)

Time to put the main mobo under the knife

Watercooling is built and leak tested briefly!
Vmod on present board is now done, fingers crossed I haven't killed the mobo yet!

Okay just beat my PB by a scratch using 11x240=2640MHz 2.025V, RAM 1:1 2-2-2-5 3.3V
Crashed shortly after :P

Next step is absolutely gutted OS install, some memory/pi tweaks and a bucket of ice for the radiator and do some shed benching!

wow this is some serious OCing with old gear. Amazing.

Meanwhile, Im still not getting any display on my screen, even tho Ive changed GPU, the PSU and reseated RAM. I suspect its my motherboard, its an ASUS P4P800-X. Ive searched google to try find a solution to no avail. Apparently this motherboard is quite troublesome judging from how many problems people encounter... Would anyone happen to have had experience with this motherboard?

After spending a good hour or so in the Man Cave
I found that running 5-9C didn't help at all.
I tried my other two chips and they were worse than this one.

The limit is 2640MHz on superpi 1m @240FSB
No voltage nor multi combos could get a successful pass at 2.7
Note: This is a desktop 2500+ 1.65v stock vcore, the early ones were unlocked, my Athlon I had all those years ago was an XP-M @1.45v stock vcore, they clock better on lower volts, so I have done well to beat my XP-M score using a desktop...

I'm in need of a new XP-M Barton, does anyone here have one stashed in a cupboard? I'd be happy to buy it

Thanks man!

I've done a shitty paint instruction showing the Vmod, incase someone is searching for NF7 mods on google one day and well, hopefully someone finds use for it.
It took me a while to find out how hah
