Atomic M33t 12!, No, really :P

It was one of those ideas that has been tossed around for a few months now, and was discussed a fair bit at the M33t the other night.

Where to from here?

No, really. Where?

As you can see above, there is a poll with most of the major cities (those that appear to have the largest home grown contingent anyway). The obligatory funny option is up to your perception.

A few years ago a whole bunch of us from Sydney made the trek down to Melbourne for a weekend of fun and misbehaviour, and a great time was had. So it got a few of us to thinking, why not shift the m33t on a yearly basis? Take it to a new location, meet new people who haven't been able/willing to travel before. Visit a new city, and just take the party on the road.

So this thread is to gauge opinions, and well, to serve notice. If people are keen to take the M33t on the road, lets get a good head start on it. People can save, or plan an amazing excuse to pike for when we visit their home town.

So are you up for it?

Edit:

At the end of the voting period, the votes looked like this:

Sydney [ 14 ] [15.05%]
Melbourne [ 31 ] [33.33%]
Brisvegas [ 8 ] [8.60%]
Perth [ 35 ] [37.63%]
Canberra [ 5 ] [5.38%]

A fairly overwhelming sign that people wanted the M33t somewhere other than Sydney next year, with a close battle played out between Melbourne and Perth.

So, unless there are any major objections, it appears that the M33t next year will be held in Perth (and it looks like Melbourne the year after).

Start saving those pennies!

You know my vote. I'll state it again in the correct place, though: Perth. There's a bunch of people over there I would like to meet - not all of them Atomicans, either. Plus, I've always wanted to go there and never got around to it, whereas I have (albeit briefly) been to Melbourne.

Perth.

Wouldn't mind visiting Melbourne sometime later, but Perth for now. :)

I reckon I'll leave this up for a month to get a good number of opinions.

And because a lot of people don't come here so much any more (but still keep in touch via facebook etc), get the word out and link them back here.

If you want it in your city, then get people to vote for it.

So it would appear!

I've spammed the poll to a whole stack of peeps via fb and g+, so I'll wait and see what comes of that as well.

True, all the more reason for those guys to get in and vote :)

On an unrelated note, it would appear that everyone is over sydney... That or the sydney folk haven't gotten around to voting yet :P

More people in Melbourne have teh interweb than people in Perth (don't get me wrong...some people in Perth have heard of this thing, but they're all mostly here!). So it may sway the results...we should adjust them on a per head of internet population to get a true representation.

:D~

Per head? Leave the Tasmanians out of this!

But seriously tho, its not just a case of voting for your own home town. We've seen a few people here vote to go to specific places purely because they want to meet up with people.

But, of course, if you want people to come to your home town, you've gotta show that you'll have a welcoming committee ready to turn up!

Juggs has a fairly good point, there. I'd happily attend any m33t on the east coast. I'm only in Perth once a year ;-;

Man, I have to make a Trip no matter which one of those listed it ends up being. I've been to all of the listed cities except Perth, so it seems like the go to me. Whatever the decision is, though, I'll (probably) get there.

And one way or another, I will get to see Perth one day! :I

Come on you East Coasters, get out of your comfort zone for a weekend and head West to Perth.

You will have plenty of notice to start saving for the trip Across this great land. Yes you will be spending more than 2 hours in a plane.

I am fairly certain, that we will see many more from the Perth Atomic Community than those that already get out and socialise.

Head to Perth and explore!!!
