They fixed the mav lifting in this yet? I could never get it working myself therefore I am against it. hahahaha...... .....ditto. I tried it once and kept falling off. In the early days, I spawned ontop of a building and was wondering how to to get up there without spawning on my squads beacon. Then I got kicked for glitching which explains why I was looking outside of the gameworld at one point. Just to add a rant tonight: I am sick of servers implementing their own rules. Though it'd be ok if there were more populated (normal) servers around. But, it was the only full server at the time, and it was Metro (which I don't mind usually). If a weapon like the M26 is glitched, fine, ban it temporarily. But it really pisses me off to jump into a server that has "NO RPG-SMAW-USAS-M320", yet ALLOWS the M26! To top it off, I got kicked for killing with a claymore which isn't listed as being banned :P I've said this before, but I'll repeat, I like my smoke grenades....I find them really useful in helping my team push. If I kill someone with it, I should get bonus points and a medal, not a kick from admin for using a "banned" weapon :( And why ban the USAS still? Frag rounds have been nerfed on it so it hardly gets used now anyway. In the end, I got pissed off so raged with my own darts in the dying minutes. I mean, in a game of Metro, I can understand why you're doing it, but has anyone ever experienced a 64 player game of metro that DIDN'T result in a cluster fuck choke point? These weapon restrictions DO NOT WORK so why circumvent how the game was intended to be played? It truly feels like who ever runs these servers sometimes is 15yrs old. People rant on about Dice trying to turn BF into COD, but I honestly think the server owners are doing it. Putting these restrictions in place turns the game into a stat whoring, mindless team deathmatch. And that's what I saw tonight. I watched my team getting back raged numerous times cos all they were focussed on was spamming their LMGs down the lockers. Noone was paying any attention except to the little stat whoring spot they liked. I watched one guy prone at the turnstiles spamming some spot across the map, completely ignorant to the fact about 20 enemies (in total, not all at once) ran past him to get to the side/back entrance to the lockers and kill everyone in there cos they're all to oblivious. I watched on as a base behind us was neutralised, and NOONE even thought about turning around. I watched numerous enemies come up the back stairs , jump the turnstiles, and almost make it out to the Cafe....I went hunting for them after, but thought it was phenomenal to watch noone care. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I didn't want this to get lost in the above... Question, do people play ever play with their maps maximised? I find I can't really tell what's going on when it's small. The round medic and ammo icons are too big and block the view of anything useful for me. I pretty much always play with my map expanded and it has improved my game since I started this. It's so much easier to get good situational awareness of what's going on around you. It comes in handy when you're behind cover and want to lob a grenade at someone, use the map to line up the shot. I also soemtimes just stare at someone on the map waiting for them to come out of cover. I won't even be watching the main screen, just the map. As soon as I can see him come out of cover, I start pre firing and boom, instakill. He could have thought I was hacking it was that sudden. I can't do this with the map minimised, so I wonder whether that's why I see so many people who have zero clue of what's going on around them. In general, I would check mine every few seconds while I'm playing. I think more people would too if they used it like I do. I check my minimap every few seconds with it small.
I also have a 27" screen and good eyesight, so having it small isn't too big an issue for me. Granted I don't know what you're using, etc... I find having it large obscures too much of my screen. I'd like it if it had three sizes. Standard, the current large, and a half way point. -------------------- http://steamcommunity.com/id/supervillainoutcast

Finally found a mate to start playing. Been really fun showing him the ropes and getting some voip happening. Its always a bit sad when we jump on a server and piss fart around getting him used to the game, yet somehow I end up MVP of my team. Nit saying I'm any good at all, just shows how rubbish our team was.
Anyway, now I need to add a key binding for push to talk, I was wondering if anyone has some interesting ways of binding their keys? Personally, I have some macros on the left of my keyboard for a few things like map and chat....so my right hand doesn't have to leave the mouse if it doesn't have to. My mouse has middle button set to prone/crouch toggle. Back button I grenade and forward is now PTT. I'be just got a razer death adder and am really missing having more buttons :P -------------------- www.316computers.com.au

Razer Death adder is fine for FPS, you don't want 6 buttons as each button press throws your accuracy off.
I use my thumb button for knife and that is it, everything else is keyboard bound. A lot of the professional players are still using Microsoft Intelipoint mice, but I think part of that is the new hipster trend of doing it. The best mice for FPS is the Sensei, Kana, Death Adder V2 and apparently the CM Storm Spawn isn't bad if you prefer a smaller mouse. Most other mice are designed to be ambidextrous, super high DPI (6000+), multi-button or simply designed by people who don't know what makes a good gaming mouse - or usually a good mix of it all. -------------------- Intel i5 3570 @ 4.5GHz - Gigabyte OC HD7970 @ 1150MHz - 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws @ 1866MHz - ASUS Maximus V Gene - Antec EA-650W Platinum - Fractal Design Define Mini - Noctua NH-U12P SE2 - 10TB Network Storage - OCZ Vertex 3 240GB (Steam) - Corsair Force GT 3 120GB (OS+BF3).

I use "v" as it is always pretty easy to hit with your thumb tip, while keeping your knuckle on the space bar for jumping. Minds you, I play with a slight claw grip on my keyboard.

Nobody makes you play on these servers, yes they are strangely enough, some of the most popular servers, and I will hop on a metro server occasionally to unlock stuff for my guns. IMHO thats all the metro only servers are good for. Its either that or you have the stat padding idiots who will spam a lmg down the lockers. You are better off playing on a server, that has a metro in its rotation, because the players will PTFO, they will play metro in a similar fashion, and metro is much more tolerable. But to hop on a 2000 ticket metro only server, and not to expect a ticket booth shitfight, or spawn rape of either team, dude you must be delusional. Me, I much rather play the vehicle maps, variety being the spice of life and all that. I dont be play with the map expanded, but Ive changed it to hybrid view, and only ever glance at it. Basically I use it for cues as to where the enemy may be. the hybrid view helps as it includes some terrain, and gives u a much more clearer view where they may be. Because I play with a team on the CG ladder, the ruleset also includes, no 3D spotting, no 3d tags, amongst other settings, so we setup our server as such. So you are kinda forced to play and rely on the map to assist in finding spotted enemies. I'm not a fan of hybrid mode. Haven't really found it particularly helpful. But I might give it another shot.
In regards to metro, it wasn't really a rant at the map, more the players, but I understand your point about the types of players it attracts. I use metro to unlock stuff and practise shit, but come midnight its tough finding a 64p server playing anything else sometimes. That said, I love that me and a noob friend squaded up and with some direction from me we managed to turn the tide of the game. I find it quite rewarding at times. They fixed the mav lifting in this yet? I could never get it working myself therefore I am against it. hahahaha...... .....ditto. I tried it once and kept falling off. I like my smoke grenades....I find them really useful in helping my team push. If I kill someone with it, I should get bonus points and a medal, not a kick from admin for using a "banned" weapon :( This is why I rarely play Metro, because I love smoke grenades, but since 320 is usually kickable I can't use them in case I accidentally kill someone. QUOTE has anyone ever experienced a 64 player game of metro that DIDN'T result in a cluster fuck choke point? Yep, smoke is the only thing that works. |

When I'm playing this game, I like to jump in an empty Noshahr or Caspian server, and stuff around in the Viper, for the first 10 or 20 minutes of the day.
Most servers are 1P ranked. So it doesn't do much for the SPM or K/D. But I get a kick out of it. Spewen this game is not moddable, or I would make Chopper race tracks. Anyway. I decided to make a video of me stuffing around on Noshahr over a 20 min period. Compacted into a Slayer song. It's not exactly flying wizardry, but I had fun making it. And the video quality is AWFUL, as its the first video I ever made, and I did it in windows movie maker. Anyhow, hope you enjoy. Edit: Prolly easier on the eyes just to watch it straight from the site. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEZbzv3g12A...eature=youtu.be This post has been edited by katalyst: May 14 2012, 01:49 AM -------------------- Speech is greatest among the faculties, an index of the mind, and the glory of human culture; but the origin of all speech is in Breath. There any reason to dust off my joystick for flying rather than using my Xbox controller? I can sort of fly, but not competitively enough to take a vehicle if there are others that want it. Is it easier or mire intuitive? I figure I just need more practice, but I wonder if one is better to use than the other
