It's not just iOS5...my iPhone is running 4.3.5 and I plugged it into the wall, using the charger that came with it and I got the below error message. I'd never seen it before so I screen capped it, only happened last week....after all these years of using iPhones, it was a weird message to see.
I know the message plebsmacker is talking about. Some USB ports don't put out enough juice to charge an iPad...but the iPad doesn't produce a message like the pic below when there's a lack of USB power. Even Apple have Microsoft moments of madness.

Going to upgrade on both iPad and iPhone this week after I clear up enough space off my laptop to actually sync the devices (I have NO free space left...fail).

I get the charging error with some third party black charging cables I bought. Never happens with genuine ones.
