So lately I have been noticing at every petrol station people with unleaded cars pull up next to the 1 free diesel pump where its combined with unleaded pumps (usually only 1-2 of them) when there are still heaps of spare unleaded pumps down further, I don't really get all that mad but it'd be nice if people thought for a millisecond and said hey someone with a diesel car may need to use that only diesel pump, usually I'll then pull up super close behind them and leave the car idling so they can hear its a diesel and hopefully something might click in their brain for next time. Its not as much of a problem at the bigger servos along the highway where you have plenty of room for all diesels to congregate.
anyone else hate going to the servo? apart from the money we all have to waste on fuel :S -------------------- STEAM/BC2 name: AllNightmareLong

well as i put in premium fuel but the way my local servo is designed is that the premium is in the back and the e10 crap is in the front, so whenever i fill up people have a go at me for not moving forward, then i have to tell them that i cant put e10 in my car (being an older car), that usually shuts them the fuck up, and then theres the odd few that say to me "buy a new car then you fuckwit" which i promptly reply "i'm a student not a fucking billionaire like you riding around in a _______". and that usually ends the conversation right there.

yea it goes the same for people with like 98 octane, there is usually only 1 pump for that and you get some knob with something that just runs on 91octane parked next to it.

Round here they can't even figure out that you move to the front pump if possible, and not the first available one >.<

I am probably guilty of this (not entirely sure, don't really track the times I pull up next to a diesel pump...), it's not something you honestly think about. I will be sure to start taking this into account. :p

I'm going to be an inconsiderate bastard, and say, it's not one of those things i care about.
I don't deliberately do it, but every station has a different layout, you don't usually take notice of the distribution of the other 3-4 fuels types that you don't use, instead focus on making sure you find the one you need. It would be like going to a restaurant, and thinking. hmm, I can eat anything, so I'd better not order the chicken in case the kitchen is running low and I take the last serving of it in the kitchen and someone comes in who doesn't like red meat and is alergic to seafood - nobody does that, and if you were the person who has special needs you just wouldn't go somewhere that didn't cater well to those needs. So i'd say go to the fuel stations that: a. have multiple pumps of the type you use b. have a side by side layout where you don't get blocked by soneone, and the specialised fuel is at least available on either side of the single bowser. or you can suck it up and keep supporting a business practice that annoys you. -------------------- A device so simple that it took a mind as brilliant as mine to create it! Yep it shits me, I run only 98, some dickhead stops at the first pump while everyone is waiting, using your brain makes everyone's life easier.
Our servo also rents out DVDs, the owners come into our restaurant every Saturday night, I asked if dicks park in the fuel filling places and look at DVDs for 10 minutes and they said all the time. I'd headbutt someone... -------------------- 2011 Atomic 3DMark & Game Benchmark Rankings !! http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index.php?showtopic=41178

I would have no idea how to tell a diesel from a petrol car by sound and nor would most of the non-fuck-giving world population. Passive-aggressive behavior, once again, fails to do anything other then cause the perpetrator to make angry forum posts to people who don't care. If you want to make a difference, stickytape a paper sign up on your local petrol station on the diesel pump saying "Please leave this pump for diesel cars, unless all other petrol pumps are taken. Thank you, management". It'll take a two or three days for the management to realise that noone in the station actually put it up, and in the mean time, the regulars at least will see it and change behavior. Proactive beats passive-aggressive every time. -------------------- Kablez-

I copped an earful for allegedly doing this.
What actually happened was that the person in front of me left after I started filling up. People get their knickers in a bunch over the dumbest things. I can only imagine that it's because the few minutes they need to wait, has wiped out the time they gained by driving at 130km/h along the Bruce, weaving furiously through traffic. -------------------- KEN SENT ME

Passive-aggressive behavior, once again, fails to do anything other then cause the perpetrator to make angry forum posts to people who don't care. a diesel sounds like its clattering away, petrol is usually pretty smooth sounding if its not about to die any idiot can tell them apart. you may not give a shit, but some people do, like I said its a courtesy, something alot of people are quickly forgetting and just focusing on themselves, seems to be most apparent on the roads though, people just pull out on you, no indicators, people not letting others merge since apparently that 1 car gap makes all the difference... ect -------------------- STEAM/BC2 name: AllNightmareLong

or you can suck it up and keep supporting a business practice that annoys you. you say that like we have a choice lol You think you don't? I've stopped going to a serve because they had pre-payment all day. I've stopped going when they renovated and changed to a shit layout. For me buying fuel is a necessity, but certainly not something I want to spend any more time than necessary, or complicate more than it needs to be. If I have any choice, then I don't queue, and I don't prepay. At least one brand new servo renovated to change their layout only a couple of years after opening because they screwed it up. They tried discounting, but with their small margins, they obviously couldn't drop enough to make enough people put up with it. I had one cashier appologies to me once, because they had prepaid, I said "I understand", she said "thankyou, most people don't". I responded - "hey, while I understand your reason I don't like it, not blaming you, but the owner should fix it, because I only came here because i got caught out, I normally avoid any place with prepaid." Interestly, pre-payment around here has gone out of fashion, I don't think there are any left, except some switch it on during late nightshift - it's ironic, that they had a perfect solution to fuel theft with bowser eftpos over 20 years ago, but most disabled it becauise they wanted to rip us off on chocolate bars. -------------------- A device so simple that it took a mind as brilliant as mine to create it!
