How do I connect to the internet? Wanting to buy a laptop Options

Hi, Just want to know how to connect to the internet with a laptop (or iPad 3). Currently I have a Netgear ADSL modem connected to my desktop (with an Ethernet connection). Can I use this modem to connect the laptop to the internet or do I have to buy a new wireless modem (with a USB connection?) thanks

If your modem only has one ethernet port and no wireless, what you are looking for is either a Modem with wireless and routing builtin, or just in addition to what you have, a wireless router.

I stand behind Linksys for their standalone wifi routers, but their all in ones have been problematic for me in the past.

For all in ones, I recommend netgear, ASUS, Belkin and Billion.

Your local electronics retailer will have something in stock, just tell them what you plan to do and what you currently have, they should be able to advise a few good options.
