So i've just cleaned out my 5870 and caused a nice dust storm in the workshop at work (how strange eh?) and i was reading last night around of different forums and QAs that using 1 bridge is all you need for running 2 cards. Something to do with running dual monitors and not being able to directly plug into any of the ports on the second card with both bridges being used.
i'm using just the one now and am now able to use 1 card for each of my monitors so can i assume that i'm only supposed to use 1 bridge in the first place? edit: also in CCC instead of saying primary and linked, its saying primary and enabled not? I run three monitors from dual 5870's, with one bridge.
You only need to have two bridges if you have more than two GPU's. -------------------- h.IV+[Kymatica]

I've seen so many pics of 2 cards/2 bridges so I don't think it can do any harm, I've even tried it myself and doesn't seem to cause any problems, but its not necessary. edit: just realised this thread is like a week old already, oops. I have read in a few places that using two bridges instead of one can actually reduce performance.
